Or you just get a flog like Freeman who demands more money after not even making his debut in his first two years.

Corey Enright, Andrew Mackie, Mathew Stokes, Joel Corey, Mitch Duncan, Brad Ottens and Travis Varcoe are a few reasons.

Fair enough, you guys don't agree. I do agree, going from SA to Vic seems easier but the go-home factor is still there and it hurts interstate clubs. REB, your mob have been exceptional at keeping the core group, but generally clubs aren't so lucky.

Create an environment where players not only want to stay, but players want to go to.

Apparently nobody wanted to go to Port Adelaide according to a leading player manager, since that gaff Boak and Trengove ( among others ) have signed on and Monfries, Polec and Ryder and seemingly Dixon have made it their club of choice to move to.

It's not the city that keeps players, it's the club environment and clearly clubs like Brisbane, Carlton and up until this year the Bulldogs haven't been able to produce that environment.
If you want to go quickly, go alone.

If you want to go far, go together.

Point being, what's the point of Carlton recruiting Schache and Brisbane recruiting Weitering? You're right Boon, about environment but often it just backfires. There are just as many, if not more players that have gone home. I can't be bothered listing them.

My point was more about recruiting the best players available rather than worrying too much about the state of origin. I'd hate for Stephen Wells to agree with your point of view.

Yeah would be an odd trade into a stacked midfield when you can't make Melbournes

From the Herald Sun today

Port Adelaide will offer the clubs Second Round Pick for Melbourne's Jimmy Toumpas.

Port Adelaide could part ways with utility Aaron Young to St Kilda, in what could form part of a three-way deal involving Toumpas and the Dees.
