Like North have with Polec?

Didn't Port offer Polec a contract?

We did,but if we wanted to keep him we would have upped it, wouldn't we?

Sooooo, you didn’t want to keep him but you offered him a contract anyway?

This conversation is SA Footy in a nutshell!

Player leaving club A to go to Club B

Supporters of Club A:

"he was never really any good for us anyway - very inconsistent"
" if we wanted to keep him we would have"
" he really wanted to stay but was given $4,000,540,890,000 for 75 years to go to Club B"
" he's not worth what Club B is paying"

Supporters of Club B:

" A great get for us, his best footy is in front of him"
" Can't believe Club A didn't work harder to keep him"
" other clubs offered him more but he chose us because of our great footy program / culture / coach"

Can take the Club A line further on social media:

“McGovern is a young and experienced gun so Carlton better be prepared to part with pick #1”

In response to Port people taunts of “Losing another player, no one wants to stay”, Crow fans respond with “He’s not that good, always injured, we don’t want him etc”

C7 Melbourne.
ANZAC Day falls on the following Thursday so I know we had originally requested the AFL to play Carlton on the evening before Good Friday but it appears we have been given Good Friday.

I don’t get why if that’s the case.
Essendon have ANZAC Day & Dreamtime, why give them Good Friday also?

To help you fill the stadium. Can’t have a marquee game infront a pathetic crowd like last year.
They wanted 2 Etihad tenants to play and as their biggest money maker it was a no brainer

They got 43k in 2017 against the Bulldogs, excellent result.
There was 34k this year because only around 1000 Saints members showed up.
The AFL are supposedly about promoting all clubs, should’ve given it back to the Dogs or Carlton (the latter have been trying for Good Friday footy with North for nearly 30 years).

Dogs were coming off a flag. Wouldn’t get 35k against them now.
Carlton will be shut out of Friday night games and blockbusters for some time I’d image.
The AFL loves money and we make them a lot of it

Getting an extra 10k through the gate is a drop in the ocean for the AFL.

Signed a contract extension until the end of 2021 during the week.
The club is very happy how he’s stepped up. His second half of the season was excellent.

From memory he went about #30 in his draft year. Without being across all the talent in that year I always thought he was a score for North. Won’t ever win a Brownlow or anything, but could be another Cunnington for 8 more years.

His good form in the middle has allowed Ziebell to go forward.

So gaff chose not to be by his sick fathers side as it meant having to play for North Melbourne

It’s a fate literally worse than death :)
