With blokes like Wingard and Thomas getting around the AFL need to step in before it ends up being like the soccer which everyone will admit is well over the top and a blight on the game
Thought a couple of times yesterday durin port game that the umps did well when the players flopped or threw their heads back to get a free. The Polec one was one where initial contact was actually on the shoulder but he threw his head back to make it look more obvious and no free was paid. What I hated this weekend was the deliberate out of bounds, clearly making a statement but now as soon as the ball goes over the line players open their arms and call for a free. I saw at least five called over various games where the kicker was penalised when kicking under pressure. The aim is to attempt to keep the ball in play IMO if an opposition has the chance to do this but let's it go over to try and get the deliberate its play on, so often this happens.
