Dogs first at it all night, don't think we deserved to win but would of taken it had it come off. Bad kicking at goal (2 by Dougie) really cost us early for momentum. Back to the multiple players chasing the ball carrier allowing the opposition out the back to run off and get the numbers advantage further down the ground.
Dougie and Thommo looked very slow, but none slower than B Crouch. First game back yes, but was left for dead by the Bulldogs.
Scott Thompson needs to learn that players duck and dive for frees, he is too aggressive in the tackle. Also while a couple of holding the balls were tough, he does tend to brace and ride the tackle when pinged.
My biggest question re the umps is how many frees in the centre bounce from non officiating umps...calling holding or blocking from 50m away. Would like to see them again to see if they are there. The last "block" against Jacobs was odd.
When the ruckmen go up and all of a sudden there is a free kick. It takes at least one replay before you can work out whats it was for. Obviously there are some very obvious ones but seems like bit of a lottery at times. The blocking rule in the ruck seems like a 50/50. You could get done for jumping or not jumping at the football.
For me the one that gets missed, across the board, is the block off the ball to allow a team mate to mark. Bordering on a screen in Basketball... All teams do it, and most get away with it. I agree with your comment on ruck infringements they are often impossible to work out.
