Tayte Pears retires from football to have a crack at joining the MFB. Only leaves Jobe left to make a decision

Yep, very happy with that.
Has shown some absolute brilliance at times but just hasn't got a tank ATM. Needs a real good pre season and he has already committed to not having a break over summer and doing a heap of fitness work as he knows what level he needs to be at

I'm not sure Watson will be much of an on field influence. He'd been in decline for a few seasons and had a few injury issues. A year off so often ends up being a disaster for older players. Probably a bit of pride coming into it not wanting to retire on WADA's terms, but I reckon he'd be far more value to Essendon in a coaching role than a playing role. Not a chance he plays in a flag and his spot will only hinder the development of a kid.

Guess it's a pipe dream, but would love for the press conference to be him admitting his own responsibility at long last and his failure to properly voice the concerns of his younger team mates.

Of course he wont be in our next Premiership but neither will most of the squad. He is much loved by all players at the club and the younger ones especially have been begging him to come back. He is in better shape than ever and his body is feeling great, he wouldnt be coming back if he didnt think he could see out his contract.
The club has done a geat job signing up the kids and the great thing about Woosha is he doesnt care about reputations, if Jobe or any other player isnt performing they will be playing in the two's

Jobe's press conference seemed a bit manufactured and he didn't show a lot of passion or confidence when discussing next year.
The blokes had a rough trot I know but it seems he's coming back just to fulfill his contract.

If I was him, I would of stayed in the U.S living it up!

He's got the personality of his old man, ie none.

They are polar opposites when you meet them in person. Tim I agree is quite bland but Jobe is great and the rest of the players love being around him.
Go to any big club function and Jobe will be the first one to come sit at your table and have a chat

Fair enough mate, as I've never met him I'll take your word on that, good on him, love players that do that.

I wasn't convinced by Jobes comments that he's 100% in.

I reckon we could see a mid-season retirement if he cops and injury or two. Looked far from certain about his decision.

Also strange he's had months to tell the club and only does so when they put a two week ultimatum to him. Seemed rushed.

Was absolutely stoked when I checked my email today and there was one from the club announcing it. Have most of the kids locked away now and hopefully Parish should extend his contract in tbe next week or so. Bit of a show of faith from Zach as he only had signed a 2 year deal at the start of the season so great that he has extended so early

I reckon after this season his coin went up a bit. Was a really positive this season. Polled well last night as well. But the issue will be the players coming back and affecting his development, basically get out of the way boys Zachs coming through.
