Yep. Rumours circling it could be Hampton for McGovern.
Who knows...I don't think it really matters when Geelong flood our forward line. It's going to be more important who can kick them from outside.

I think we will go with Milera or Hampton. Not unhappy thou if Otten does come in, has done the job for us forward and back this year!

Smith a big loss, really big I think. The game in Geelong where they shut you down and didn't allow run from the back half Smith had 11 touches, Laird 20 ( but only 7 kicks ).

Geelong can put more time into Laird this week and I don't think Mackay or Seedsman worry any top 4 side, not too much anyway.

Geelong were badly exposed by the pressure and speed of Richmond. Would that work in favor of say Milera over Otten?

My thoughts too. I've said for a while I reckon Smith would be such a key to Adelaide's finals chances, and the loss of his run and penetrating kick is a massive one imho. McKay did pretty well last game and Seedsman is capable, but you'd have concerns over them doing it for an entire series. Still, opportunities often bring out the best in some people. I fancy the Cats tomorrow night, but can easily mount a case for both sides so should be an interesting game.

Neither, really, Milera isn't the bloke to apply pressure on the ball carrier, not his go and for Adelaide to even get close to replicating the Richmond forward half set up they'd need to get rid of Jenkins and Walker as well as McGovern.

Combination of Mackay and Seedsman can cover Smith hopefully. Geelong don't play 6 forwards so they will be playing more of a wing role.

Cheeny and Milera training with the team so Milera in you would think. Cheeny obviously backup/emergency for the back half

Who's better at winning their own ball out of Hampton or Milera? Geelong will try and force Adelaide into contested situation and have been pretty successful with it for a while now. I didn't see the game the last time they met, but read that the Crows altered their style for the game to accept moving the ball to contests rather than holding on to it looking for uncontested possession and field progression? If correct, you'd expect them to try a similar approach

Smith is so important to the forward thrusts with his run, carry and leg. Laird is more important as the small intercept defender who takes lots of marks with the help of the big boys holding the forwards out. I'm not sure if Mackay or Seedsman can offer what Smith does, nor do I think Laird can play the Smith role.

Smith has also kicked 12 goals this year, it's not often he hits the board and Adelaide lose. ( Laird has kicked 3 ).

If Milera plays he needs to play on Parsons so they can spud it up together

I still think Adelaide win and fairly comfortably.

For Geelong to win I reckon Smith needs to kick a goal or two on Jacobs, Taylor needs to hold Jenkins out of the game and Geelong's midfield need to stop M.Crouch from chipping it 20m to loose men forward of the contest and see if he can kick it over 35m.

Don't write of Milera to produce the goods.

Skillful, smooth mover who uses the ball well and is quick off the mark. Gets out of traffic well and most importantly he's indig so brings that element of black magic :D

Funny how things change. Last time we played Geelong, Taylor kicked 5 on Keath to keep them in the game, now he's critical in stopping our forwards.
