No, that's the right option.
The soft option would be putting a asterix next to the year and not having a medallist.
One thing is for sure and that is that Sportsbet aren't getting that $1400 back off me[emoji3]

Very soft for the AFL though. The hard decision was made by the player.

True but it shouldn't of been up to him. The AFL should of shown some spine and taken it months ago

Makes both parties look better by handing it back

Surely they tapped him on the shoulder and said you should hand it back before we take it.

That would be a very "AFL" thing to do

Completely agree.
The alternative version is the AFL asking for it back, and the view being he was forced to return it.

Yep. Still think the players took wrong advice from the AFLPA legal team in not having their cases heard individually and choosing to be heard as a group. Once one player was done they all had to be when it is on record as showing that some players more than likely didn't take any illegal substances whilst others took plenty

He's a cheat, full stop.
No coincidence he had his best year ever and by a long way whilst on the gear. He never played anywhere near that level in the years preceding it or in the years to follow, there's all the proof you need.
Can't believe all the praise he's getting for giving it back, shouldve been taken off him long ago.

The judgement is clear that they signed all their drug test forms declaring they weren't taking any other substances or medications when subsequent evidence showed they were taking what they thought was Thymosin4 but was more likely to be Thymosin beta 4. If WADA was absolutely sure it was Thymosin beta 4 it would have been longer than 12 months suspension

They basically got done for incorrectly filling out their drug test forms in 2012 when they were undergoing the 2012 Essendon supplement program which is against the WADA ,ASADA and AFL rules hence they current outcomes.

It is why the CAS appeal was thrown out pronto.

The players broke the rules and have been punished for following people they trusted.

I believe they were used as Guinea pigs in an elaborate drug trial that showed no real benefits.

Dank and Hird are the real villains here and whilst they have copped some whack it isn't to the same extent as the players have.
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

Would have been interesting if he refused to return it and the AFL demanded it back.
