I heard Port lose money if they have less than 26000 in the stadium for home matches. Oh thats every game but home showdowns

Our 1.87 million dollar profit last year was quite nice thank you. :D
I think that was about double what Port made.
Considering we were 7 million in debt in the late 90s and now have 8 million in assets things are going quite swimingly down at Sleepy Hollow thank you.

why not expand your ground to fit more in with all the cash you have!

How can Adelaide supporters be called soft. We constantly get 45000+ rain hail or shine the envy of 90% of AFL clubs. Why would we want to sit amongst 20 000 less than desirable people on a freezing cold Sunday when realistically we had little chance of getting the result we wanted/needed...... No Crows supporter would have been confident going into todays game

Yep, it was a Port home game, they're the soft ones. Can't blame the Crows fans for not wanting to sit amongst 20,000 Port fans.

maybe they need more buses for the Power supporters !!!!!

You were playing a bottom 4 side that hadn't won in a month and were playing for a spot in the 8
I think a lot would have been confident.

Justified in my opinion....

If i remember rightly Port started getting 35-40 000 people to home games when they were winning???? where are the extra 25 000 so called supporters at their home games when they are loosing??? not supporting your team at home games because they are loosing is soft!!!!!!!!!

Dead right Dutchy it is an embarassment. How is the wonder stadium looking now when the Crows fans are too pathetic to turn up.For years we have heard ..The Adelaide Show,Saving for grand Final day,Saving for week 2 of the finals and the price of tickets as excuses for poor finals turn outs. Now the Port home Showdown again draws a red faced turn out
All the jokes about Port supporters being on the Dole  You would think the Crows mob were living in Whitmore Sq.
Not long until the Freo home Derby game against West Coast .Will the much more supported West Coast fans bother to go to the Freo game as an away fixture?? Last year sold out in an hour and 20 min. Guess we will have to wait and see!!

So Crows fans turn up rail hail or shine for home games but don't like turning up when the weather is a little inclement for a game where they perceive they will be sitting amongst "people like that". THAT is soft and elitist. But I wouldn't expect anything else from the legion of theatregoers that "support" Adelaide. Which happens to be my team.

We have to remember that the season ticket holders have already prepaid their tickets so going to home-games may only represent a parking cost. But to go out and buy a new batch of tickets for an "away" game can be a big hurdle for families these days. Don't underestimate the impact of interest rates and fuel prices on family budgets - it seems to me that crowds in all states are under pressure this year.

So we'd be relying more on non-Crows-season ticket holders who have a chance to see their team live. But, they all knew there were spare tickets available and, with rain forecast, a lot would have waited until the day to decide to fork out the $$$. Then it rained from 12noon to 2pm which would have killed about 5,000 (from turn-ups and members). Why not sit home on 1/2 hour TV delay - you can still cheer on just as hard.

32,000 was probably Port's biggest home crowd of the year, remember they only had 19,000 last week. So it again amazes me why some point the finger solely at Crows supporters.

Anyway, after 10 years of Showdowns we are over a lot of their early obsession so, these days, both teams need to be playing well and pushing for the 8 to draw the big crowd .... unless of course it's a Crows home game

Smart supporters save up their scarce $$$$ for games against the best teams in a given season (home or in Melbourne), rather than blindly going to Showdowns just because its a Showdown. The Crows crowd at the G last week was apparently very big, yet we're soft :?
In between signatures .....

I took my wife to a footy match once. She'd never been to one as she was a musician and dancer at the time. She couldn't stand the aggro and the language so we left early.
She has lately adopted being a nominal Power supporter because her father was, and her brother is, quite actively involved in the club, and the nephew wants to play for them.
Well he did - recent trends at the Power camp seem to be making him wonder whether sticking to Cricket may be a better bet.

Has the SANFL GF ever drawn more than a Showdown in the same year? Could be happening this year... May have to review which game is the biggest in town...
