some of you who've responded are just dicks.
Isn't Police involvment, a spray from the skipper & Eddie enough?
Eddie hasn't swept it under the carpet, he's publicly furious, yet we have the odd cheap shot thrown still- some of you do live in glass-houses...
Didak's role in this was non-existant (as per the facts released), also his conditions were lifted- he's free to behave as anyone else.
However, he'd need to mindful that repeating that behaviour would be a poor choice.

you miss the point Booney...all clubs have had & will have issues.
Please quote me where I defended Heath Shaw?
Collingwood have handled it a lot better, & more transparently than a few neighbouring clubs....

I think so. You get enough drunks together they gang up on those who don't conform to their norm and call them wowsers etc.

Barring WCE this sort of behaviour hasnt been seen in the clubs that have won the premierships in the past 13 years...

Oh dear, just said on the couch that Shaw and Didak both denied all day that Didak was in the car, they have now admitted they lied to Police and the club and he was in the car...fresh punishment to follow tomorrow.

Didak = dickhead, surely he cant be there next year now, you have to wonder if Leadership is an issue down there with Bucks and Clement not there this season

Also was going to bring this up from last year -

Collingwood's Leon Davis, Shannon Cox and Chris Egan were suspended this year for one match because they broke a team order not to leave their Adelaide hotel. They did not get into mischief and no-one in the public knew about it. Collingwood made the punishment public. At Collingwood it appears you are punished according, not to your crime, but your importance - or lack of it - to the team. The Magpies can be tough when it doesn't count.

Proves inconsistency at Collingwood is the new consistency...

Busted. Something about a tangled web.

I'm no fan of the West Coast Eagles but it seems inconsistent the sanctions that that club cops when Collingwood seem to get away with anything.
It's all the SANFL's fault.

The first part of Didak being in the car was covered in an earlier post by myself. I made the point that this is why Eddie was furious. He was okay in his first statement about Heath Shaw being in an accident, but then he went mental about "clowns who were repeat offenders" or words to that effect. He was no doubt talking about Didak, not Shaw.

As for your second part, in fairness to Eddie and Malthouse, they have made this point themselves that players get different treatment depending on their profile. Eddie's reasoning is you owe it to supporters and stock holders to field your best possible 22 players. I can see his point. Not sure if I agree, but I can see where he's coming from.

Didak was in car, say Magpies
August 4, 2008 - 9:09PM

The futures of Collingwood players Heath Shaw and Alan Didak hang in the balance after it emerged Didak was a passenger in the car Shaw crashed while drunk on Sunday night.

Shaw crashed his utility into two parked cars, returning a 0.14 blood alcohol reading when breath-tested by police at the scene.

Shaw today denied Didak was a passenger in the car, with club president Eddie McGuire and skipper Scott Burns backing Shaw's version of events publicly.

But it emerged tonight Didak was in fact in the car, with the club now deciding what action to take against the pair.

Witnesses had said Didak was at the scene of last night's crash.

But Shaw denied Didak, who was last year threatened with the sack over a night out with Melbourne CBD murderer Christopher Wayne Hudson, was in the car.

Shaw told a packed media conference today he had simply called Didak, with whom he had been drinking, immediately after the crash, imploring him to help, and that Didak walked from the hotel to the scene.

" rang him and then I saw him walking down and then, because there was a bit of a crowd around me, I just told him to go because I didn't really need him there at that point,"Shaw said.

Collingwood president McGuire and skipper Burns also backed Didak publicly.

"Didak will be accused of the Kennedy shooting next," McGuire said when quizzed whether Didak had any involvement.

And when asked why he believed Shaw's story that Didak wasn't in the car, Burns said: "Because Heath said so.

"Heath has said that Alan was not in the car with him."

The incident has heaped further unnecessary pressure on the slumping Magpies, who are no strangers to drink-driving incidents among their players and have lost their past three matches to be in danger of dropping out of the top eight.

McGuire was on the 6pm 5AA news stating that Shaw was not going to be suspended by the club as that would "be the easy option".

Still it will be interesting to see what tune he is singing tommorow! :?

As I said on another thread. It would be best to just keep them all in their cages between matches.

Both players have been proven to have lied to the club about what happened. Didak definately was a passenger in the car.
