Crows v Bulldogs this wk

Talk on the national game

Postby sydney-dog » Fri Apr 28, 2006 11:06 am

Having a look at who the crows named as the emergencies it would seem that Edwards is still in doubt, if he misses it will be interesting to see who the crows promote as Douglas and Proplyzia must be very close to selection....

It also seems that Craig rates Knights, Doughty and Rielly in front of Skippy as a midfielders and Vince and Bode in front of Skippy as small forwards

With Douglas and Proplyzia also coming thru I'm not sure where skippy is in the pecking order, especially given that most of the players mentioned can also play across HB

I think you are spot on. I think most have moved ahead of him ( skipworth ) Douglas looks the goods and Porplyzia is an in an under type

and I think you will find that Edwards may miss this week and Proplyzia will come in

it's great to see that their is plenty of competiton for spots, Thompson, Rielley, Doughty, Proplyzia, Knights, Bode, Vince, Douglas, Skipworth all challenging for a midfield / small forward role to Back up McCleod, Goodwin, Edwards and Roo

I've selected the Bulldogs this week on pretty much the same basis as I successfully selected them last week. Edwards and Roo are key players and the loss of Burton and Perrie coupuled with the extended loss of Hudson really throws out Craig's structure.

Peter Street stood up well against Otto last week but the Dog midfield and that run they get out of the backline will really test the Crows. True, it's been a while since the Dogs won at Girlee Stadium but the Crows are not at full strength and may not have the troops to get them home this time.

Having said that, this is without doubt the toughest game to pick.

Crows by 4 goals (which is not huge in modern footy)

Dogs have real concern in the Ruck, Street played well last week but Clarke and Biglands will easily work him over and give the Crows midfield an arm chair ride

The dogs are great at punishing sides for turn overs and run very hard when they have the ball but I am not convinced they work as hard on the way back.....

If clarke and the big unit can give the crows midfield first look at it and if the crows minimise their turn overs and put pressure on the dogs ball carriers, then the boys will win

I don't think the crows have clicked yet and hopefully this will be the week, my only concern is how fresh the crows are giving the last two weeks on the road from coast to coast

Memo to Rocket Eade

You can not win a Premiership if your side does not have a defensive action, running footy is about working both ways

The win was almost to script
Said it in my earlier post, the bulldogs only run way, towards goals and they feed off oppositions mistakes

Biglands / Clarke gave the Crows midfield first look at it, the Bullies did not work at all off the ball, the crows cut down their errors meaning the bullies could not play that one way rebound footy

Great Effort by the boys
