As much as I tend to agree that it would be a failed exercise, it worked in 93' when he brought Tim Watson back!!

Quite ridiculous and I hope not only do the Bombers suffer from such a plan, but Sheedy also loses his job over it when they fail to make the 8 in the next 2-3 years...for someone who proclaims to be a student of the game and someone ahead of the play so to speak, Sheedy's recruiting of older players, or attempts to lure older players is quite laughable. Short term fixes NEVER work.

But I cant see Mecuri being an effective player. Maybe Camporeale will be able to have say a fair to ok 2 years but the future lies with the young players in the squad.
Anyway back to the point. Picking up Mecuri would be a shocking move.

Monfries was in and out like John Holmes in a queue of v@ginas, as was Thomas, Laycock and several others. The only kids that got a go last year were Bradley and Stanton...
Richmond are no better with this type of thing though. We promote Roach, Raines, Foley, Meyer, Jackson, Hartigan (though he did have injury riddled 2005, he will be a gun), Moore, Schulz, Pattison and Thursfield, only to drop them one or two weeks later...
Leave the buggers in the side to grow their confidence and make them feel a part of the bigger picture. In one week and out the next is totally screwing with their football development.
Having said all this...I HATE the Bombers with a passion and hope my predictions of their destiny at the foot of the table for the next 2-3 years becomes a reality. Cheating bastards.

The AFL has taken away the priority picks system, not to eliminate 'tanking' but to remove the appearance that teams tank. FWIW, players don't tank..they go out and have a red hot dip..clubs however, can 'tank' by picking kids, resting the stars that extra week etc.
As for 2006 the hottest draft Popeye, players drafted this year won't reach their peak until they have played 80-100 games, that makes 2010 or 2011 before the best of these blokes is ready to step up into Hird/Buckley/Voss territory. Right now you are paying the price of the 'top up' era of 2002-2004.

Only one flag this decade..While us success starved Cat fans would happily own up to this stat, you are about 4 flags short of where your mob were this time last decade so that is progress in the right direction as far as the rest of us goes.
However, Port Adelaide will always be hated...a bit like Collingwood...hated because of who you are and not what you've done. That is to be your future. Must be hard to take from fans who used to celebrate premierships like Christmas, i.e. annually.
But you knew that when you celebrated the 2004 flag. You knew that the glory years were over....or at the very least you knew it when you were pumped by the Cows in Round three of last season.
