I hope Eddie's mob makes the grand final again, we'll all get a huge kick out of them coming runners up again :D

Why? Are you a Port Magpies supporter, who used to follow Collingwood, yet disowned them when the Power came in?
As for being runner up 2 years in a row, the Power didn't even get the chance to contend (& when they finally did, it was against a tired Lions side).
Back to my point, given that West Coast are vulnerable away from home, who is looking likely to challenge the Crows for the flag? Imo, it's between Melbourne & Collingwood.

No i've never followed Collingwood. I just know that theyre a laughing stock of the competition, a so called great club who has 1 premiership in the last 40 years or so!!

A "tired" Lions side!! Thats a new one!!!!! Perhaps Lethal should have let them sleep in for an extra couple of hours grand final morning!!

And yes back to your initial point, Melbourne seems to be the "real deal" this year, usually they've caved in by now, but haven't shown any sign so far this year of doing that. I think of all the other sides in contention, the Demons......due to the game being played at the MCG....would be the last team the Crows would want to play in the GF.

ROFLMAO!

Port supporters barracking for Port - the hide of them.

Two runners-up still doesn't come close to one premiership.

Lions were probably still tired from embarrassing the hot favourites in the 2003 grand final.

The Professor at work

Postby Rik E Boy » Mon Aug 14, 2006 11:00 am

Deep in the heart of his basement laboratory, the professor remixed the chemicals once again. For most of the winter the professor's reaction was bubbling over the top of the beaker and the other lab rats went green with envy. Barking out a loud manicial laugh, the professor was most pleased with this years brew.

However, as the springtime approached the proffessor began to worry..he even told his backers that a failed experiment in foriegn conditions would be benficial to the whole project..to his alarm, the experiment failed again at home. The professor boldly failed to blame the understrength concocction for the failed reaction and went back into the lab again. With his silvery head bent low, he put on his lab coat again....

to be continued...

Well, this professor has now been mixing up a similar batch for near over a decade or so now. At Norwood he had the team going great guns in the minor round (admittedly not top of the table like the Crows tho), going well enough for the double chance anyhow....only for them to fall over time and time again in September. Last year the Cows were bubbling up to the top of the ladder...only for them to fall over against St Kilda. It's deja vu all over again lads. Craig's September results just don't stack up in comparision to his minor round results..at least that is the trend so far during his coaching career at both Norwood and Adelaide. I predict this will continue.

btw, I know Geelong are carp so don't bother. You won't be playing us in September after all

regards,

REB

Crows - 2 home finals and straight to the GF
Eagles - 2 home finals and straight to the GF
Swans - have only beaten 3 top 8 sides, Freo, Dogs and a depleted Melb last week, I'm not convinced
Saints - Injuries will catch up with them come Sept
Pies - Running out of steam and Tarrant and Rocca two of the laziest footballers in the comp
Freo - Smokey in the pack but lack finals experience
Bullies - Lack finals experience which may hurt
Richmond - making up the numbers

Melbourne - they need pickett, davey, robertson and johnson back in a hurry, their best side can threaten but will struggle with injuries and history shows they do not play well on the road, so yes their in a bit of trouble

The Swans are the danger. Their form has gradually improved in recent weeks, at about the same rate the Crows form has declined.

The Crows are now having their share of bad luck with injuries, think they will struggle to make GF now. First final at home they will have huge pressure on them to perform, similar to my side (Port) 3/4 years ago.

Really looking like another Eagles/Swans GF again, carn the Eagles!!.....or god forbid an Eagles/Dockers GF at MCG

I think the swans form is a bit over-rated, the only top 8 sides they have won against is Freo, Bulldogs and a depleted Melbourne.

Mid year the swans got on a roll, smacked a few bottom sides then lost to St Kilda, Collingwood and Crows all in Sydney and Eagles in Perth, so they have not beaten a top 4 side all year

In recent weeks they have beaten a depleted Melbourne, Essendon, Port, Richmond and Kanga's

Personally I rather judge the swans on how they have performed against the top 4 sides rather then bottom 8 sides

Jury is still out for me

Last year they did, previously NO

Lets be honest, the footy gods were very much in Sydney's corner

I rathger like to Believe finals results are an indication of 1. your pre-season and 2. your form in the regular season......

Last year, both Sydney and Eagles had strong seasons, Eagles beat every side in the comp, sydney beat all except Adelaide, so they both deserved to be in the GF.

This year Sydney have not beat a top 4 side and they beat Melb, Freo and the Dogs when these teams were struggling...

Of course Sydney will be dangerous, but I have big ? over them

Fair point SD but i still think the Crows could struggle against them come finals time. Experience gained by the young Swans players in last years finals series could prove invaluable for them this year.

Who do you think the Crows would prefer to play in their first home final? I doubt they'd want to play the Saints after last year, and also in 04 they played an excellent first final in Adelaide against Port. Likewise, i dont think they'd want to play the Swans first up either.

I'd definitely say they'd want to play Melbourne first up, given that Davey and Pickett (if they make selection after injury) will be underdone, and the Demons record at AAMI is fairly ordinary.

I'm not trying to be smart (as a Port supporter), but the Crows in 97/98 certainly weren't the form side for those years, but still came up with successive flags. Finals are a different ball game.
