The days of Mokbel and the crew funding Carlton are long gone

tumbleweeds...

The President is backing the coach. He should, he masterminded the whole bloody thing!

Captain says Mick's the man for the job.

Luke Darcy said recently that it's a 5 or 6 year rebuild and that they should extend Malthouse. But he's 60 already!

Now I hear we're in the market for Frawley at 800k per year. No doubt we'll give up something ridiculous for him.

Robbo wasn't to happy with Mick last night on 360.
He claims Mick had a meeting with the board and Mick put it plain and simple this list is 'no good' but continued to sell 'the dream' to members

cool, cheers I'll watch with interest.

Interesting Mick is saying the list is no good. Almost played in a prelim three years ago with the same squad - only "improved" by his draft choices!

Stand down?
Seems that most of the crap decisions have been made by him.
Carlton need a new start, they were a powerhouse in the VFL because they always had the biggest cheque book and just went out and brought flags, now with salary cap and drafts they are finding it harder to do. They thought Judd would be a quick fix and now they think Thomas will be their saviour. Doesnt help that their so called gun top 10 picks havnt gone on with it like many expected. With the ammount of top 10's in that side it either means the selections were poor or that the players have not improved under Carlton's system.
Gibbs, Murphy and co should be elite players in their prime by now

Honestly, I don't know.

Sacking coaches does nothing, however we're in situation now were we have a 60 year old coach that will be/is past his prime and won't be around for our next push - if he's in fact saying we've got a shocking list.

NB. personally I don't think we have, I don't think we've recruited well (by position) and have some gaping holes in our list. Those guys we have recruited have added depth but they either haven't developed as well as they should, or haven't been allowed to develop. I understand we have the oldest or near oldest list going around at the moment.

Anyway, I digress. Malthouse will stay - he has to, we have no money to pay him out - unless Mathieson or Edelsten rock up with open cheque books.

So anyway, what would I do. I'd be seeking to get a senior assistant in to Malthouse to take over the reins a la Buckley. I'm not judging that as a success or failure but we have to have some plan. At the moment, I don't see one!

Out of curiosity, if Carlton sacked Malthouse and paid him out, would it matter where they got the money from to pay him out?

Who would Carlton get to coach then though if they got rid of Malthouse?

Surely new coach mid season isn't in the best interests of the footy club!?
