Not sure what's worse, that the powers that be at the Eagles let this happen or we got beat by a side in a GF who's number 1 sponsor was Pablo Escobar

West Coast were not the only team during that time that had a drug culture. They were the only ones to get caught. Remember it was Dale Lewis that spoke out about how rife drugs were and who did he play for?

Dale Lewis wasn't even at the swans when he said that... But no doubt you are correct, but it's very clear wc were by far the worst!

10 years on and it still burns as a dark period for us. The club has worked hard to try and change the culture and we have made steps in the right direction.

The administration at the time really struggled with this issue. No doubt.

Not something I look back fondly on our club but each time it comes up you want to stick the boot in.

We all know the problems and the the issues and the club is turning that around. But to think we are the only club with a problem is a mistake. 10 years ago we were the worst. Are we the worst now? Not so sure about that.

Worst timing ever for the club on the week of the 10 year reunion but Ben Cousins apparently is under hospital arrest for being semi naked directing traffic on what's discribed as a busy Perth intersection. For 2 hours!

Really sad for such what was once a dead set gun.

But big picture stuff is his a father and partner, his family must be torn apart. Incident victims to this terrible drug problem.

Jail probably a bit harsh for this. But how many chances this guy get??? Maybe going away to get clean is what's best for him

That's a very busy part of Perth. Probably 500m further West is arguably the heaviest traffic you will see in Perth so if there is a positive to take from that it would be at least he was directing traffic out the front of a 60kph road in front of the Como Hotel and not traffic hopping on the 5 lane 100kph Kwinana Freeway. Or even worse not trying to stop trains from the Mandurah Line. There are big issues in Perth with drugs and the break in rate is absolutely ridiculous as a result. Sad as it is an absolutely magnificent city. In my frequent travels with work it's my favourite city in Australia.

Yeah, no one has ever gone into jail with a drug problem and come out still dependent.

A mate who suffered a marriage break down, alcohol issues along with mental health issues after moving to Perth has seen the mental health / drug rehabilitation system in both SA and WA. Fortunately he has come out the other side in reasonable, yet still battling, shape.

He said the system in WA is abhorrent, if you are suicidal and on the edge of taking your own life with drug dependence you will get the help you need. If you're a bit blue and suffering depression you see your GP. Anything in between you are just about in the wilderness. Seeing how Cousins has ended up, seems like a pretty accurate explanation.

Sadly these events have gone on for a long, long time and I don't have much hope for it ending well.

Exactly the same in SA.
So you've seen everything have you?
Yep
Have you ever seen a man eat his own head?
No
Well you haven't seen everything then have you.

I'd have to agree about Perth's supporting services. It's a completely different culture.

One night over there around 3 years ago now I reckon it was my missus and I went to Bunnings at 6pm on a Sunday night. Some of them shut at 7pm but this one was already shut. When we rolled up we interrupted a bloke who jimmied his way in to the front part and had loaded around 6-7 aircon units in to his van and almost cleaned is up as he raced off. I chased him for a bit but he was driving like a lunatic so just went back to the shop and waited for the cops to come. Took them 40 minutes to rock up as it wasn't a major priority and in that time he done another 2 Bunnings stores. Petty crime and break ins from drug addicts is ridiculous and it's a major issue especially since mining dropped off.

Comment of the day re. Ben Cousins' latest incident.

"Poor old Ben. He's so confused these days he can't even do drug trafficking correctly."

Hard to feel sorry for Ben, he has had so many chances and support around him, you fear this whole saga is only going to end one way (sincerely hope it doesn't however)
