Tom Browne reports that Bombers defender Conor McKenna will miss this weekend’s clash against the Suns, having been given permission by the club to attend a wedding in Ireland.

Browne understands the club has known about the wedding for some time and gave the Irish defender permission well in advance.

It’s understood he will not miss more than one game.

The Bombers star has been a huge part of the club’s season so far, playing in all 17 games.

Essendon currently sit seventh on the AFL ladder with 10 wins and seven losses.

I don’t mind it.

Loyalty works both ways, reckon he will be the last bloke to hand in a trade request

I will be bought in so much to that club all for one game of footy.

Irish families and weddings are a different beast to Aussie ones.

They wouldn't be doing it if they weren't playing the Suns. Simple as that and it's not like he can ask for a trade home!

Was booked and planned before the draw was done apparently, who knows if that’s true?
Will definitely miss him this week and we can’t just say “it’s only the Suns” as we have a tendency to drop these types of games

If Adelaide can put them away by 95 you could bring in your VFL side and still win by 60

Never underestimate Essendon’s ability to stuff things up. Pretty sure I saw a stat saying that under Woosha we have lost 5 times to the bottom side

They might not have if they were playing someone else, either way I bet the player is pretty pleased and will hopefully come back refreshed and focus on a big couple of months

Weren’t you lobbying for Wines and his ski boarding, I reckon this is a less risk than that. Give me one preempted trip in a season than the unknown and higher risk injury of skiing

Surely mental health freshening counts for something right. Seeing family and mates and all.

If this was some port nuffie you would be defending it to the max!

Sorry thought the emoji was you expressing a opinion on your thoughts about the article not just posting it.

I don't think the Bombers will play their VFL side 2 weeks in a row
