I lived in Melbourne for 10 years and actively chose to return to Adelaide for the lifestyle.

Of course, I'm not a pub and club man, and the attraction was to be able to live in the clean air in the hills yet be within easy reach of a city that is easy to get around in.
(Yes, OK, if you avoid main roads in peak hour - as I can easily do.)

I can live up here in a pleasant environment, and meetings at the Universities, and the Zoos, theatres, restaurants are relatively close by.
Access to my friends and relations is also easy. (I can be at the Tollgate from home in 11 minutes.)

I went to Canberra in the public service, got a heap of transferrable experience, got a redundancy and went to Melbourne to work. Stayed there for 2 years. Worst thing I did was come back.

Melbourne (city) is so vibrant in comparison to Adelaide. Adelaide, when it gets dark has a differnt atmosphere. I'd prefer Melbourne any day but Adelaide is more affordable living wise.

But as I've said, if I could move my family and friends to Melbourne, I'd be there in a flash.

As a footballer, wanting to experience "things", Melbourne, or the eastern seaboard is the place to be.

This is the place to be if you're over 40 (raise kids "affordably"), but if you've got some get up and go, or some drive about you, go to the East. I'm obviously not talking about footballers specifically here, but the "up and comers" are along the East coast. More opportunities, (dare I say) more exposure. I'd want to play for a Melb club if I was from Adelaide. Dunno why, just would.

To each their own I guess. I've been to all the cities at well on a number of occasions. It's what you make of it.

Everyone obviously has a different view. I'm biased but I would not want to live in any capital city but Adelaide. But I can see how other people don't rate it.

Melbourne is fantastic for sport, but is the ugliest city in the western world

Serious question Turbs (not having a go) but have you lived in or only visited those cities?

the novice supporters yes. He showed his importance to AFC in the prelim.... unfortunately he has said he is going, nothing we can do. Hopefully we get something good for him!

Put that performance into perspective, he was playing on Shoenmakers, who is regarded as the worst defender in the competition.

Exactly. Even Tomahawk dominated that muppet

Tomahawk must have dominated a few other blokes too, he is now a B&F winner.

It really does depend on what you want and like.

If I were looking for just a really pleasant place to live I could be tempted by Bundaberg, particularly at Bargara on the beach.
However, at this stage being where my remaining relatives, and my old Uni and school friends, are, is a major attraction and Adelaide is easy to live in.
Here, I have a decent house and easy access to everything I want.

Were my wife still alive, and well, we would still be on our 4 acres in Olinda. (Dandenong Ranges.)
But that doesn't work socially for a single bloke who doesn't cook.

I quite like Melbourne, for different reasons than some, but as a single bloke again, my best affordable option there would be to buy a tiny hole somewhere like Southbank.
The places I went to in Melbourne were restaurants like Enoteca in Chapel St and Fenix in Richmond with my medical associates.
Southbank would be better for the theatres etc.

But my tendency to a mild claustrophobia would put me off a small apartment or unit.
(That's why I bought a house here with a main living room 8.2 metres x 4.5 metres.)

Lame brain he is.

I think Tippet needs a decent manager, and one who is not creaming off the top.

agreed. i heard sydney want him to replace goodes when he retires (could be wrong), tippett couldnt even tie goodesy's boots... but if he does go to the swans, we have a knack of turning half decent footballers in to guns..
