Immediately? :?

Jenkins has been good for a few seasons now. Not quite Tippett good but is approaching very good status I think.

Not if we leak them at the other end :D last year we conceeded far to many goals, we would kick a winning score but still lose

Big test this week against the Tigs, they will be smarting after losing last week so will come out hard.

Not really a winning score then is it???

It would be interesting to see what the output of both players has been since Tippett left.

Massively. JJ's improvement had been massive the past 2 seasons. If we get 50 goals from each of him Betts and Tex we will go along way to winning more games that we loose.

Plays the role of the 2nd Tall and then chop out Ruck well. Allows them to play only Jacobs as the sole Ruckmen. Very good start to his season and as Booney said his manager would be pleased.

He just needs to continue to improve his ruck work to compliment his goal kicking. You can't blame him for holding off, his last contract would not have been worth much. He told foxsports he isn't going anywhere. He turns 28 this year so i'm sure the club wants 2 years and his manager wants 3. Not doubt it will be worked out soon. Does anyone know who else is out of contract at the end of this year?

So 150 doesn't mean we are going to be top 4, don't even reckon it would mean guarantee top 8.

150 between two, or 200 between 3 on the other hand... That would have to mean we have had a very positive season.

Interesting debate/discussion. Got me thinking about the last 3 years of Hawthorn, so for what it's worth...

2015 - Gunston 57, Bruest 52, Roughy 50 - total 159

2014 - Roughy 75, Gunston 58, Bruest 57 - total 190

2013 - Roughy 72, Franklin 60, Gunston 46 - total 178

What does that mean - that somewhere between 150-200 goals from your key forwards gets the job done. But you need to consider mids scoring & backs restricting.
1961, 1971, 1976, 1978, 1983, 1986, 1988, 1989, 1991, 2008, 2013, 2014, 2015.... And don't you forget it!

Yep thats what i was getting at initially, you need others to do their job be that kick a few goals and or stop the oppo from scoring.

Yeah I get that - I guess I was backing up the OP a little bit, in that 150 is a decent return from the key forwards, and "assuming" the others are doing their jobs, it's enough to be right there at the pointy end of the season....

Taking out 2013 because Tippett was under suspension:

Tippett - 2014 - Goals/Behinds - 34.17 Marks - 58 Hitouts - 77
Jenkins - 2014 - Goals/Behinds - 40.26 Marks - 86 Hitouts - 55

Tippett - 2015 - Goals/Behinds - 44.23 Marks - 93 Hitouts - 380
Jenkins - 2015 - Goals/Behinds - 46.21 Marks - 108 Hitouts - 79

Pretty even really apart from 2015 when Tippett did more ruckwork than Jenkins.

Jenkins actually stands up against Hungry Tippo better than I thought.

tippett better in the ruck and contested marking. Jenkins more mobile and much better kick for goal

Value for money you would have to take jenkins, but if you had to pick one no matter the cash i would still take tippett

Funny thing is that Jenkins is yet to head home to the gold coast via $ydney yet so I think he still has some integrity at least.

2014 Jenkins 20, Tippett 14
2015 Jenkins 21, Tippett 22

I'm not suggesting Jenkins is as good as Tippett but to the Crows he is as important to us as Tippett is to Sydney and on far less coin, meaning we can afford to retain other key players longer term like Talia, Walker, Sloane etc.

If you gave me a choice right now between Jenkins and Tippett, it's Jenkins every day. He offers so much more in the forward line.

Well that's a bad call IMO. Tippett is far more value as he can play as a permanent forward or as a lead ruckman and is very capable as both.

Jenkins has played about 15-20 solid games, Crows fans barely acknowledged his presence in 2014, he's still a bit behind Tippett.

Just my opinion mate. We don't need Tippetts ruck work currently in our structure and I feel Jenkins does more in the forward line

Tippett's had a few concussions in his time, I wonder how many head knocks more could he sustain until the quacks encourage him to retire? I always thought Sydney were taking a risk with him on that basis.

Pound for pound, I'd take Tippett over Jenkins, but maybe not if Tippett's prone to an early retirement.
