Difference between Ryder and Thompson was Thompsons was (sort of) in the play whereas Ryder was off the ball and deliberately went to him to hit him.
Expect Ryder will be 3>2
Agree with Cameron.
Shocking news for McGovern...especially in a contract year

Cameron should get off imo.

Was it open or clenched hand (Ryder)?

Open, however footage isn't very conclusive.

@MW, Ryder not as bad as Lewis and doesn't have a bad record. Although, that's assuming the MRP is consistent....

Cheney is out with a hamstring, Walker missed R1 with hamstring, B.Crouch missed 4 weeks with hamstring, McGovern might be 3 months with hamstring.....

Sorry Boon between work commitments (the 2017 vintage is a cracker for Barossa reds), Supercoach commitments and premiership celebrations I havnt been able to focus on the results too much. Are Port going good? I did manage to catch they lost to this years premiers on the weekend.
I was also under the impression that since the Hawks have been pretty much the last team to finish for the last 6 years we were given special permission to start a month later than everyone else. Did that get revoked when Evans left the AFL slightly catching us off guard? Are the Hawks really going that bad or are the umps just having a bad start to the season?
Seriously the Saints would be rubbing their hands together with our 1st round draft pick next year, luckily we will still have pick 19, about the same weve had for the last 5 years. Hopefully the recruiting of Mitchell and Omeara was just the tip of the iceberg. I dont think we are as bad as we look but geez our skills are awful at the moment and maybe just maybe the desire isnt there after so long at the top. Maybe its a year we have to have to rekindle that passion like 2009. If we dont get a reaction Easter Monday against the Cats from our older brigade we never will and they should be moved on immediately ( Gibsom, Burgoyne, Hodge). Of the others McEvoy, Rioli, Puopilo are not getting near it. Our defence is way to loose. I could go on, we are just shit and lack desire.

Both Lewis and Hogan got the 3 matches as the contact was "intentional" ( as with Ryder ) with "medium impact" to the head. Lewis bad record saw one added so 4 down to 3 with early guilty plea. Hogan was 3 down to 2 with early guilty plea. I'm thinking Ryder will get 3 down to 2, but I'm hopeful of 2 down to 1 as I think it might be "low impact" compared to the left hook Hogan threw into Rowe's chin, Ryder looked more open hand.

MELBOURNE'S bid to return to the finals after an 11-year absence has been dealt a huge blow with All Australian ruckman Max Gawn to miss three months after hamstring surgery.

Gawn saw a hamstring surgeon on Monday to determine the best course of action after scans revealed some tendon damage in his right hamstring.

"There's a gap between the bone and the tendon so it's probably safer and quicker to get surgery," Gawn said on Monday after meeting with the surgeon.

Paddy Ryder, Port Adelaide, has been charged with striking Riley Knight, Adelaide Crows, during the fourth quarter of the Round Three match between Port Adelaide and the Adelaide Crows, played at Adelaide Oval on Saturday April 8, 2017.

In summary, he can accept a one-match sanction with an early plea.

Based on the available evidence and a medical report from the Adelaide Crows Football Club, the incident was assessed as intentional conduct with low impact to the head. The incident was classified as a two-match sanction. The player has no applicable record which impacts the penalty. An early plea enables the player to accept a one-match sanction.
