I said it in the little things that piss you off thread that the umpire has a lot to do with these sorts of things happening. If he got in there earlier and blew his whistle it may stop the players thinking they have to do a bit extra to get the decision. It's probably not applicable in this case though but it has been in some of the others.

Having said that Walker deserved the suspension. McInerney should have been dropped for his poor initial decision , but no, he gets rewarded with the Collingwood v Carlton game.

Agree bloods08, they let the game go on far too long now and that results in this rolling rugby we see. Obviously it is a directive and style of umpiring that has come into the game partly as a response to 15-20 years ago when on the odd occasion the umpire would call for a ball up just as a player was breaking free. But blow the whislte earlier, get in there and ball it up and f**k off the holding-the-ball in these packs.

Walker should've got weeks for his tackle on Morris, I've never said he shouldn't! So I'm not trying to mount an argument for him, my point is that this year there have been numerous tackles that have or could seriously harm a player, they have gone without suspension. So either the AFL aren't serious about it enough or the MRP is terribly inconsistent, which is my main point. Not only with tackling but in general.

They do get a bit precious IMO, I thought Goodes' was ripped off but them's the rules.

Yeah i think he will get 5 or 6 that he will be able to reduce down to 3 or 4 with an early guilty plea. He has been suspended a few times in the last few seasons IIRC so he won't get any discounts there.

Should have to miss whatever the player he hurt misses plus two, this should be the case always.

Buddy Franklin is kissed on the dick by a fairy when it comes to reports/MRP sanctions.
Not saying he never cops a report, but a lot of stuff that, say, Ryan Hargrave, Farren Ray, or any other lesser light player, would cop games for, he gets away with. And I would not be shocked if there was an AFL directive that star players need to be out there as much as possible.

MP I'm heading to Lincoln this weekend and would like to discuss this over some beers...
