Crows 2015

Talk on the national game

Re: Crows 2015

Couple of good wins to start the year for the Crows. We've had the wood on NM over the years so not unexpected, especially at home. Also with Collingwood, we won over there in 2014 so again, not unexpected. I think most Crows supporters are realistic of where we are at unlike some Victorian media who are talking up September!

The most pleasing aspect has been the style of play, although I am a little sceptical if this style can be played for 22 rounds + finals. They might burn out come August. Thoughts?

I think the pressure is what is required for september footy. whether we can keep it up I'm not sure. but i sure like what i am seeing.

melbourne, bulldogs, port, gold coast, st kilda, GWS to come in the next 6 weeks. I'm not counting my chickens, i distinctly remember doing that last year before the melbourne game, but i think thats a pretty good run for the next month. I think if we can win at least 4 or 5 of those it will set up the season nicely.

I think they will burn out, but still claim a top 8 spot. Then its just pot luck where they finish

They probably have a favourable draw (not that I've checked it) and I think they will make the 8.... how far they go is anyone's guess. I think their game style will come undone in September, but they will learn from the experience and go deeper in 2016 and beyond.

PS - I am not a fan tho!

at least in the early part of the season, the draw does look very good, yes.

The Hawks draw is tough, it has been for a few years I reckon, but that's the price you pay. I actually feel that helps in the long run. Players get used to the pressure so it's no surprise that they step up come the pointy end of the season. Having an "easier" draw could be a disadvantage!

Not complaining at all, just an observation... as I say, I think it's an advantage in the long run!

Great to see Jake Kelly get a game. I believe overlooked in the Draft and father son selections. They have nicknamed him 'Bull' as he goes 100% flat out all the time. Good luck to the lad.

scrappy game today, Melbourne came out firing and their first quarter was great.

Crows worked themselves into the game and ended up having too much class in the end.

thought mackay was our best today. excellent.

mackay thompson sloane and kelly all had 10 or more tackles which is just what you need in a game like that.

really liked our youngsters today. kelly, CEY, brown all had decent contributions today.

I thought Mackay made a few errors early on but got better as the game wore on. In a physical tight encounter, I thought Thompson was probably the Crows best. Sloane looked quiet early but once again you check his stats by the end of the game and he had plenty of it. Ellis-Yolman is turning into a real win for the Crows this season and Betts was both dangerous and creative. Melbourne were brave and committed and will trouble plenty of teams if they bring that every week, problem for them was too often just the 1 skill error in a chain of play brought them undone.

If we had a full list who would you drop for Cheney, Crouch and Kerridge?

Wright, Cameron, kelly and VB prob the weakest links at the moment. Don't think Otten or Reilly are in the best 22
The death penalty can never be excused as it allows a state a means by which it can pick and choose who is fit to live and who isnt

Even though he had 10 tackles on debut, Kelly will drop out for Cheney
Wright will miss for Crouch
I dont think we can play VB and Kerridge in the same side so either or
Cameron is a bit down but not sure any of those three can do the same role.

dont reckon kerridge gets a game.

wright could play instead of cameron as that small forward

otten would have to come in for henderson to get a game i would think, but henderson is a lot more versatile so I think he stays over him.

Against teams with smaller forward lines they could play kelly instead of Hartigan but yeah he is probably dropping out for cheaney.

Changes your dynamics a bit, loss of pace for a more natural and skillful footballer.

probably agree, but if you are looking for another who can play that defensive small forward on our list, he is probably it.

I know Im biased, but if you can ever deepen your list of backmen, Luke Brown is your bext Porplyzia type up forward .. I rate him higher as a forward than a backman - Excellent kick for goal.
