I don't think that will be the last big fish they land either.

Personally I hope he does well, but not too well at North.

The entire Tas/North thing will fester for a while yet I'd suggest.

I didnt realise if they beat GC and WCE lose to Geelong, they lose the no.1 pick
Going to be interesting to watch the anchor get thrown out in the 2nd half

I'd be nervous as a North fan on this. Clarko was heavily involved with the Tas bid early days wasnt he?

I’m delighted to announce that last night Alastair Clarkson agreed to coach the North Melbourne Football Club for the next five seasons.

Our former number 23, Shinboner #781, and four-time premiership coach will lead our talented, young group from 2023 until at least 2027.

This is a real watershed moment for our club, and I am writing to share it with members and supporters first – we’ll talk to media later today, but for now, this is a moment for all of us.

I can’t speak highly enough of the professionalism of Alastair and his manager James Henderson over this past four weeks. We’ve had a crash course in getting to know each other and Alastair’s passion to drive our club back to where we belong is incredibly infectious.

Alastair officially begins with us on November 1, and I’m looking forward to welcoming him, wife Caryn and children Stephanie, Matthew and Georgia, to the Shinboner family.

In the meantime, I hope to see as many of you as possible at Marvel tomorrow to thank Leigh Adams and his team for the outstanding job they have done over the last six weeks of the season.

I’ve lost count of the number of people who have remarked about how well Leigh has acquitted himself in the top job and we’ve been so blessed to have him. So to Patch, thanks for your hard work and congratulations on a job well done.

Finally, a few final words on another favourite son – the one and only Ben Cunnington. How good was it to see Ben return to the field in Adelaide last Saturday?

Now, this weekend, Ben plays on our home deck in front of our own people. Having been at Adelaide Oval last week, a few words of advice – wear lots of blue and white and remember to bring a hanky.

We look forward to seeing you all there to thank Patch, support Ben and cheer on our players in the last game of what has been an incredibly eventful 2022.

Thank you as always for your unwavering support and love for our club.

Today is a good day. Alastair’s coming home. To our home.

Go Roos!

Dr Sonja Hood
President
North Melbourne Football Club

As for the Tassie BS, they will have their own team confirmed by the end of the month.

Paul Roos went 21-45 at Melbourne. Great appt today by North but you'd think they've guaranteed finals in 2023...

My admiration for Clarkson has grown immensely today.

Yes I was disappointed we didn't get him, I thought it was the perfect script waiting to unravel, I thought there was little chance of him going to North as I thought he'd want immediate success to look after his record (BTW, on Wikipedia his NMFC coach record is already listed).

Good on him, it's going to be an interesting story from an outsider a possibly a fairytale from those who bleed the colours.

What does he do? Does he go for youth and smash through the draft or does he use his status top recruit mature aged players for where they lack?

Admittedly I haven't watched much of them but I've liked the look of a few and there's obviously some young talent to build around and develop.

How long does Todd have left in him?
Is Xerri up to it yet?
Hall, Ziebell, Greenwood and Cunnington all with 2 years tops left, I'd persevere with 3 of them, after a breakout year in 2021 JZ was disappointing this year.

LDU, Larkey, Stephenson, JHF, Simpkin, Zurhaar, McKay and McDonald have all looked good from what I've seen.

Has Polec still got one year left?

Soft cap has increased and surely no one else at North is getting paid anything decent currently. They would be fine

More importantly, what will they be called?

Hardly.

Well they already have a great list apparently and now landed the coach.
Top 4 lock.
