Some good signs tonight

Midfield looks strong, VB, Scotty Thompson, Radar and Proplyzia looked strong, well supported by Vince and Symes

Tippett looks ahead of Sellar for a spot

Griffen and Maric performed strongly in the ruck

We won tonight without relying on Macca and Goodwin, however, Birdman looked the goods

Ease up turbo! Top 4 is still a long way off but I'd definitely back them for a top 8 spot this season. If we do continue to play a lot of kids this year then there will be inconsistency but the signs are good at this stage. It is only pre-season though.

Once you make the Grand Final it's always good to win, it doesn't mean a lot really as the cash isn't really needed by the Crows.

Its substantial money this year and the club may not be short but I reckon the players wouldn't mind their share!

I wonder how prize money is split .... anyone know?

Hawthorn's Beau Muston. He's only a young kid and this is his third ACL! I think they said he had two before even making it to an AFL list.

Crows have kicked a few now, Burton took an absolute screamer before and kicked the goal. Brilliant grab.

2 ACL's before getting on an list. Was considered a top talent but not predicted to go so early because of his knee troubles. Hawks took him in the 20's which came as a surprise. Was developing reasonably well but this would be a massive setback.

Amazing how many times quality midfield players for Hawthorn kicked to a 1-3 or 2-4 contest in the forward line..so annoying to watch it happen time and time again, no matter how good the forward line it is not going to kick goals with delivery like that

I must say im stoked they are given the kids a run - some really good signs for the future.

Im hopin they stick with David Mackay in the season proper he looks like he will be a star.

Also Tippett and Sellar changin of the bench seems a way to go forward for the club as well.
It is what it is !!!

Dew went alright considering it's his first game for about 18 months. He almost kicked a huge super goal but the bounce of the ball did him no favours.

Stewie went onto his left, was surprised that three times he was able to baulk players and run around on to his left foot. He was one of the few Hawks who used the ball well and made smart decisions with his disposals. He was a bit stiff with the super goal bounce.

WRONG ANSWER MCFLY!! This won't be the last time a Hawk gets ahead of themselves this season. Even St Kilda haven't been this overrated during a pre-season campaign. It will be interesting how they go during the first few rounds with so many suspended players. If they go 4-0 it will be humble pie yet again from this poster.

A good hit-out from both clubs in my view but I couldn't help but notice that when a bit of pressure came to bear that the Cows reverted to tempo football and the free flowing style in evidence previously appeared to have gone out the door.

Not a bad game of footy that and I like the look of the Cows young talls and Cyril Rioli looks the goods as well.

Mitchells two missed goals were very costly for the Hawks.

I agree siddernee but I still think that the Cows will be back to their old ways sooner rather than later, look at St Kilda last year - you don't learn a new game plan overnight. Liking the look of that young forward line though.

REB

Is it a new game plan?

I do not think so

It is the same game plan we had in 2005 that made the crows one of the highest scoring side in the comp.

This game plan continued through early 2006, however, key injuries forced a change in structure and game plan..

Now the crows have a full fit list again, they are back playing their 2005 brand of footy

People seem to forget in 2005, the crows played an very good attacking brand of footy, sides struggled to break Adelaide's attacking game plan, Richmond had to resort to a full game of tempo footy to defeat Adelaide

The Cats were able to change their brand of footy over 1 pre-season and won a flag

why

Because IN 2007 they had a full fit list to execute a game plan that requires players to work hard both ways...., this certainly was not the case for the Cats in 2006, they were spent by half time

This type of footy requires a very fit side to execute, Adelaide has not had that due to injuries

IMO, at this stage (RND1) the crows will not play both Tippett and Sellar togrther up forward

I agree MacKay loos like a class act that can step straight in, he is at value odds of 67/1 for the rising star award
