HOW MANY WEEKS FOR BIG BAD BUSTLING BARRY?

BBBB played this one to perfection in the fact that he will get 5-8 weeks from the tribunal and by then be cherry ripe to pull the boots back on after the wrist has recovered 100% .

Would probably miss 4 weeks max with a fractured wrist but the extra couple on top the tribunal will hand out will suite him nicely .

I dont condone Barry's actions but the next bloke who tries to man handle him might have second thoughts.

Cant help but think back to the David Rys Jones and Dennis Banks incident .
What i dont know about football isnt worth knowing .

The AFL will either take the " He's injured anyway so the punishment won't matter" road.

OR

They'll take the "bugger him, let's lump another 4-5 weeks on top of how long he'll be out for anyway.."

He's actually only due to miss 4-5 weeks. But I'm not counting on a 10 week suspension..

Consent to being assualted is presumed in contact sports otherwise every bump would be an assault. If the nature of the contact is out of the bounds of what could be expected from the game then there is an assault.

It will be good if Staker does sue him and it will send a message that violence which is cowardly and unacceptable off the field is unacceptable on it too. The times have changed from the early days where punching people is condoned.

Staker to sue him???.......you have to be joking!!!....

sure wot Bazza did was stupid but come on............its a physical game and things happen, like most of these incidents there are two side to the story and as usual the media have got hold of it and blown it out of all proportion eg Staker Mother....ofcourse his Mums gonna react that way..its her son!!!............but legal action well thats another avoidable thing in which case no-one wins except the media who will milk it for all its worth......

He can't claim concussion as that would be an automatic 50k fine on the club under the Tribunal rules, whereby a concussed player can't take the field.

Yeah I thought there might of been a rule to that effect, or massive lack of responsibility on the part of the Sydney medico's..

**edit** just on that too.. I thought reportable offences had media bans slapped on them until proven guilty at tribunal..

Why do we have a match review panel?

They should give him a penalty and then Swans appeal if they think it is too harsh, the AFL must be consistent!

They are consistent, every case that's over a certain amount of points is automatically referred to the tribunal.

They don't show incidents that have been reported. As the umpire didn't report it they could show it as much as they want to.

I suppose Hall thought he could get away with anything after the 2005 Preliminary Final tribunal fiasco. :-k

Are you referring to the persistent replays of the incident on all networks,or,the press conference that Hall held?

If it is the replaying of the incident,I thought this was the case.If and when this changed Im not sure.My recollection was the incident was not to be reshown if the reported player was reported on the field during the game.If the report was made by the review panel on Monday night not alot can be done to stop the networks showing it so play on.

If it is Halls press conference where he pleaded stupidity and remorse well that was just the biggest hot air conference I have ever seen.It is an insult to all of us for him to think saying "Whoops, dont know what I was doing, but Im sorry" will help him or in any way change the way we see him,too late Barry.

With all due respect to his mother's unbridled support for her son, I'm tipping there's a few people who played the game shuddering at the thought of their mother coming out publicly in support of them. Tell you what, it was a bloody good one and didn't Kingsley Hunter stay down, still can't go too crook at him for that.

Did he break his wrist in the incident or otherwise?

OTHERWISE
while trying to slow down he ran into the railing along the wing which was unprotected.
hit his head on it as well. will be an investigation into the safety to players

Fair enough. My silly cousin missed a Port Premiership in the 90's because he hit someone in the semi-final...he didnt get suspended but he broke his hand.

And your advertising that your related to a scum player!! :vom: :vom:

hall can cop his 10 weeks or whatever, but suspend stakers parents for at least a season for poor form in every media outlet across the country. No wonder staker did not want to talk about it when his olds are letting everyone know everything.
