Douglas doesn't deserve his place though but I guess the one thing we lack is small forwards so he can be gifted games.

They'll give him until the end of the season to show he can lift another couple of cogs. If he doesn't finish up with multiple 20+ possession games he'll become a fringe selection, especially as Jacky continues to improve.

FWIW I think Doughty was closer to being omitted than anyone else in that 22, especially given he's named in a spot you'd associate with Johncock.

I don't think you can assume that from the team placings however - team placings are almost pointless these days to try to figure out where they'll actually play.

You could go more on who's on the bench v starting 18

So I'd assume if Johncock and Thompson were playing that Danger and Petrenko wouldn't have made the 22. Defintely Danger in for Thompson IMO.

But only the selectors know for sure, you could be right

I do not agree with that, small forward is the hardest possie in a footy side, Dougys forward pressure is outstanding, his disposal by hand and foot is oustranding (as Most Glenelg Supporters will say)
and this season he will become very important in the Midfield rotations

Since when does Douglas find the ball a lot? That's one of his major problems at the highest level, just can't find the ball.

Wow .. I thought the Crows were in for some exciting times with their kids, but I didn't think it would be yet ... I've seen little of Petrenko previously, but can see why he's been wrapped, just a an excellent bundle of energy.

Long way to go, but following the development of the Crow kids should be enjoyable for their legion of fans.

I cannot describe in words how pumped I am. Sure we missed opportunities, sure we should be further in front, but how talented are these kids?!! Tex's goal from the boundary is so fitting for his arrival on the big stage, Petrenko's hardness and flair is holding up to AFL pressure, Otten is settling in, Dangerfield looking gunnish (although we haven't seen the pace just yet, and how coolly did he slot that goal?) and what about Cook?!

I'll probably get the urine extracted from me for saying this but my voice choked up when Walker slotted that goal. So.bloody.pumped.

I clapped Walker's goal, as did my family.

And Otten is going to be a gun, didn't think I'd be saying that 12 months ago.

PETRENKO! So, so good.

No need to be discouraged by this. We were widely expected to lose by 5 goals plus and we've put up a very competitive effort with our most inexperienced unit in years. I want the win but we've got plenty of positives to take from this regardless.

Great win. awesome to see knights after a terrible first half, stand up when it matters! very impressed by Patrenko real hard at it and explosive. also dangerfield showed the potential with explosive pace, although he didnt get too many touches. Otten was great.

question.

who do they drop for thompson and johncock? Maybe Cook will be very unlucky, couldnt pick another one?

I see a few on other forums are bagging Cook for shanking that kick but be reasonable, he's a 19 year old kid who's only played 1 SANFL game before debuting on the MCG. Can't knock him for getting a bit stressed like that. His disposal was much better today overall.

AFLflyer: You'd think Cook will make way for Thompson but as for Stiffy, I don't really want us dropping another youngster because they all played sensational footy. He's obviously gotta play if ready....heh, definitely wouldn't want to be a selector for the Saints game.
