Benchwarmer wrote:Funny how those who run out of constructive arguments use "salary cap" and "cheque book 80s football" as lame excuses to try and win an argument - look at S**t Kilda and all their early picks running around!

The salary cap stuff happened in the 1990s under John Bloody Elliott - both of those things have gone thank goodness ... so get over it all you non-Carlton supporters!

Two losses - so what, there are still five months or so to go in this season and we only want to finish in the top half ... we don't expect to be top two, three or four but we would hope to make it to week two of the finals.

To make the finals and win in the first week will be a great thing for a club that were a power house in the 70s and 80s before being a bit of a yo-yo club from 1996 to 2007.

Rising out of the bottom four with a young team with some talented additions in 2008 bode well for the future and we hope to be apart of the top half of the ladder for quite a while.

But, first things first, we have to get the wins on the board with some consistent footy. The one thing we really need is a ready made backman to lead the back six - that would help us in our aim to be consistent a finals team.

=D> Well said.

I am not a fan of this sort of one-upmanship but I feel compelled to react this time.

If we are going down that track, how successful were Geelong on Grand Final day between 1964 and 2006? ... and North Melbourne between 1925 and 1974 and since 2000?

Both are considerably longer than the 13 seasons since 1995.

I believe premiership-wise:
Carlton > (Geelong + North Melbourne) or numerically ... 16 > 7 + 4

So what your saying is Lara was married to someone else at Carlton when Fev chopped her. I think not!

You'll find that it's a reference to the Carey affair at North Melbourne.

Which is exactely what i'm saying Bench, Lara wasn't involved with anyone at Carlton (still don't condone Fev's behaviour BTW) but my previous post was in reference to Carey/Stevens affair so I didn't see the relevance of Lara/Fev in that. Oh well, was just having fun with the chicken pics, you'd be surprised how many chicken pics are out there  . There's some strange fetishes out there.

Best wishes to Richard Pratt & his family as the Carlton great is reportedly on his last days.

You've helped the club out of it's darkest days, and will forever be indebted to the Carlton Football Club.

All the best Pratty....

sh1t, terrible news Jabber. He certainly will be remembered as the man responsible for turning us around. Hopefully that amounts to something long term. Unfortunately for Mr Pratt, he's unlikely to see the fruits of his efforts.

After a shaky couple of weeks, the Blues got back on track with a win against the Dogs.

They have a tough few weeks against Hawthorn, Collingwood and Adelaide.

They need to win atleast two to remain in the top 4.
