Ah yes Magic Mcleod the player Freo did not want - This trade could be yet another coup !!!!

I was of the opinion that they did want him, but there was no way McLeod was prepared to play for them, hence they traded him to the Cows for some budding superstar lol!

They met and some one didnt like him in the meeting - as the story goes !!!
It is what it is !!!

Gerard Neesham was the coach, Crows traded Chris Groom for McLeod who was traded to North Melbourne a few seasons later but retired/de-listed due to knee injuries from memory.

Apparently-
Freo flew McLeod to Perth, then made him find his own way home.
Gerard Neesham demanded he take the earrring out of his ear.
GN had no idea on McLeod's history.
GN talked a lot of 5hit, & if the previous reasons weren't enough, then that was

Just interested in people's view on Skippy

You would think he is down the pecking order at the crows, will he seek a trade ?

Best on ground for the WWT team saturday
I think AC are mad not to include him in 2006
and particularly after 2006 when that vintage midfield
gets a year older and closer to retirement.
Untradeable in my opinion.

I read he kicked 6.3 on the weekend

he can play as a small forward, I agree I think he needs to come in for Proplyzia who has been down in recent weeks, my other concern with Proplyzia is he seems to be a small forward only at this level, he needs to add more strings to his bow

The half a dozen lesser ordinary crows players get exposed
when the side is losing or under performing.
Some of these lesser lights would struggle to make other clubs
starting lists.
They are disciplined players but not the catalysts required to ignite them.

mal, come on name them, I think every player whp played today except maybe Proplyzia would be picked up by another club if he nominated himself for the draft

lets be realistic, their is not one club in the league that has 22 players each week who can ignite a side, but what you do need is an even performance across your 22 and strong contributions from your bottom 6 players.....

Today I thought some of the crows back bone players did ok, Doughty and Mattner were strong, except for Edwards it was our senior players that let us down,

All sides get exposed when there losing, the crows are no exception.....

One thing I will not get drawn into is fragmenting the mediocrity of players.
All AFL footballers are skilled atheletes playing at this level its just that there
is half a dozen players who are not , lets say, match winners at Adelaide.

Mal,

this is what this site is about, it's about supporting your argument, with who played well, who did not, who will be traded, who should be dropped for next week.......

ADELAIDE have players that have the discipline to play to a strict game plan. put them up on the open market and there wouldnt be many that get picked up.

OK you got me riled SD here goes
These are guys right at this minute that would struggle
to command a regular spot in other afl sides

welsh
bode
reilly
doughty
shirley
massie
stevens
van berlo
bock
clark
porplyzia
perrie
torney
hudson
skipworth

there may be others I have missed

I will put you in the spotlight how many of these blokes
apart from Welsh if fit would be a regular at other clubs
or have been a consistent match winner at the Crows

Craig is a genuis getting these guys to play to the best
of thier abilities, AT OTHER CLUBS they may struggle.

if any of these players are viewing my sincerest apologies for naming
them but my 'ol sparring partner SD got me dander up.

Mal, you do have some nuggets

welsh - has been injured all year, but kicked 50 goals last season and have no doubt a club would pick him up
bode - had a fantastc game today and a great year, spoke to Gary Lyon last week who rates him very very highly and Melbourne had a crack at him last trade period
reilly - lets be honest, no matter what for some reason this kid will always will be judge pretty hard, thought his game was good today, took couple contested marks, will improve as a player and would get picked up
doughty - he has had a pretty good year and again was one of the crows better players today
shirley - he is a run with player and I know rated highly by some clubs
massie - yes this time last year you could argue your case, this season has been strong enough to keep torney out of the side, but was disappointing today
stevens - Agree
van berlo - like rielly this kid gets judge pretty harshly, this kid has more courage then any other player his age in the league, and any observers who do not see that judge footy on uncontested stats alone
clark - agree, should retire
porplyzia - agree, yet to prove himself
perrie - both west coast and freo had a huge crack at Perrie at the end of year, unfair to judge on this year due o injury
torney - disappointing year
hudson - only 3 weeks back from injury, unfair to judge, but let the afl last year in centre clearances before his injury, would get picked up
skipworth - would like to see Skippy get an opportunity before I pass judgement

So Mal, what about Knights, this guy can't hit a target, or Gibson, what about Jericho, I know 32 Melbourne base clubs that are keen on him, Hawthorn being one of them

At the end of the day all clubs make at least 6 changes each year and all clubs will carry players on their list who may not be up to it

Stan Im on a hiding to nothing with that list, thats why i was reluctant
to name them and will get shot down by fellow posters.

Hudson 1 good year, a hec of a player, but would not be the lead ruckman in many
clubs, and he needs to consolidate his good first year.

See why I dont like naming players SD .
