I can see why Melbourne picked Watts, but hindsight tells another story.

I still think Watts will be the better player. he really came on this year. I think they made the right call Melbourne

It's only an easy draw if you're good enough to make the most of it. Adelaide had an easy draw this year too - problem is they were shit.

Having said that - I agree with your prediction.

now im confused!

Sam Reid, the brother of Ben, plays for the Swans, not the bulldogs. The bullies have already lost Ward as the uncontracted signing

Haha i know Sam Reid plays for the swans, There is also a Sam Reid who plays for the Bulldogs who is linked to be following Ward to GWS.

Is a midfielder from Zilmere who will be 22 in November.

Cats will be right.

Unless there's more retirees will still have the following 21 players from the GF:

Bartel, Chapman, Christensen, Corey, Duncan, Enright, Hawkins, Hunt, Johnno, Kelly, Lonergran, Mackie, Ottens, Podsiadly, Scarlett, Selwood, Stokes, Taylor, Varcoe, West, Wojinski.

Add to that others I expect to be regulars and not just fillers in who have a bit of experience already:
Byrnes, Hogan, Taylor Hunt, Nathan Vardy.

Throw in Menzel coming back mid season and others possibly taking a step forward and putting their hands up who have already played senior footy in Motlop, Simpson, Guthrie, Gilles, Brown, Cowan.

That's 32 players to work with initially.
Plus there will be the usual kids coming through our VFL side who already look pretty damn good.

Also will get a decent swap/pick with Blake going and have the pick for Gary Ablett Jnr up their sleeve too so definately no bottom out for the Cats. We'll just keep doing what we've been doing for years and replace players with other ready made good players. Need to find another key back out of the kids.

We could probably cover 1 or 2 retirees depending on injuries next year but it would be cutting it close so hopefully no more until after next year's GF.
:)

Ling is a big out for us Wedgienald and Otto and Wojo are probably close to the end. We will really miss Ling's strength and ability to lock down on opposition gun midfielders. Perhaps that is a role that Hogan can be groomed for because frankly I have been underwhelmed with what he has shown so far.

You can't even say he hasn't had opportunity either because he got a run of games in 2009 and didn't set the world on fire. Perhaps making Hogan our new run with player it could be the making of him.

1. Collingwood - I expect them to bounce back, even with the new coach.
2. Carlton - natural progression up the ladder, their time is due.
3. Geelong - still quality.
4. Hawthorn - so close this year, yet so far. More of the same from them.
5. Fremantle - they mean business and have the talent to threaten the top 4 with a bit of luck with injury.
6. North Melbourne - a bit more consistency will see them climb, still not at the level to threaten top 4 though.
7. West Coast - not convinced the Eagles will have as good a year as this year but hard to deny with their form this year.
8. Sydney - Just seem to always be competitive and play the good teams well, unlike some.

9. St Kilda - still plenty of quality on their list but their time is up.
10. Essendon - give them a few years under Hird to start making significant inroads.
11. Gold Coast - won't see them in the bottom half of the ladder for too much longer.
12. Adelaide - a lot of work to do for Sanderson to turn around what has been a terrible couple of years.
13. Richmond - same old same old.
14. Melbourne - hard to see them climbing too far, especially with the loss of Scully.
15. Western Bulldogs - strugglers next season.
16. Port Adelaide - starting from a long way back.
17. Brisbane - same as Port.
18. GWS - will probably start season 2013 where they should've started season 2012.
