We have been total shithouse without Maric, Rance and Deledio. Verified that for me.

Cotchin and Deledio are clearly our two best mids. Conca, Eliis and Vlastuin will get there eventually, Martin drifts in and out of games way, way too often for a guy who should be genuine A-grader.

We would never kick a winning score without Riewoldt.

Hampson (*shudder*) is our ruckman when Maric is out.

Astbury has been good but doesn't provide the run that Rance does, Grimes is very similar, not alot of offensive stuff.

Like REB said, the best defender, best forward, #1 ruckman, two best mids. Fairly simple formula, and without three of them, we've limped to 2-5.

Your clubs most important 5 players

It's pretty crazy that Grundy is the number 1 ruck at the pies already. He is good, but it points to a lack of depth in that area. Witts has come in and done ok though.

Also proves you can be successful without a dominant ruckman. Would have beams ahead of grundy for sure

He's still very raw but going to be great.
We offloaded a premiership ruckman because he was just that good....and other reasons, so its not our ruck depth at all.

Cant win a flag without a great ruckman, the most important bloke in the team.

I think the way teams set up these days it is much less important. Freo don't dominate clearances, even though sandi wins almost every hitout. Minson was regularly racking up 50+ last year and they still sucked.

I think a contested marking forward is still the most important player in any team.

I'm not so sure that Goodes is in Sydney's 5 most important players any longer.

As stupid as it sounds I think Ted Richards should be in there very rarely beaten.

Remembering the thread is '5 most important players' not 'your clubs 5 best players'

As in ports case Lobbe is no where near our best player yet I rate him our most important player ATM

Not stupid at all Carey, Richards is a very important player, the Swans most reliable player IMO. Very good key defender who takes the opposition's best key forward and as you said is rarely beaten.

Swallow more important than Ziebell imo. Hard to argue with the rest.

I actually had that list in order. When Zeibell plays well, we invariably win.

Hawthorns top 5?

Mitchell, Hodge, Roughead, Lake, Rioli?

They certainly missed the three that were out. During other posts in this thread I would perhaps should have plumped for McEvoy but when has Hawthorn ever had a gun ruckman in recent times? Unlike other clubs they haven't really had the Ruck champions. McEvoy would be the best for some time I reckon.

Couldn't give a shit what they have to say.

Masten attacks, but does not defend. Gets burnt on rebound more then any of our midfielders.
Scooter gets plenty of it, has very little polish. Priddis probably more important
Cox important, Nic Nat wins you games within a quarter, 18 months ago.
Kennedy, basically been playing without him for the last 12 games. Darling has gone past him.

Kennedy must of heard you today
