heard that a few weeks back, but i did read it again today for the first time in a while.

Would need to free up a heap of cap id imagine. Probably need 650k a year to fit him in and by all reports Buddy was only on 350k this year but rises to nearly a mill over the next year or so. Swans do need a ruckman though so its no as silly as it sounds

Okeefe moving on wont help the cap issue you will soon be faced with. Parker is about to start commanding some serious coin. Also has Malcheski signed on yet? Not to mention a host of othet young stars coming through.

Would imagine that O'Keefe and Goodes were on the veterans list so only half of their money is in the salary cap
July 11th 2012....

The Veterans rules were changed a few years back. Believe it excludes about $120k per player now regardless of their income

Simon Goodwin officially off to Melbourne on a 5 year deal.
2 years as assistant to Roos and then gets the top job for 3 years.

Make of it what you will (and I know some people wont believe given the source), but Caro is strongly linking Port to Ryder.

Ryder has reportedly told Essendon he wont be at the club next year. Port's first round pick rumoured to be offered.

Nah, love him as a player and I admire him for the goodwill gesture. Hopefully the club helps him get to the destination of his choice. Sad to lose him but frees up some cap space and hopefully we can develop our younger players

I think Port will throw a very good deal at him. They need another ruckman/forward as Schulz will probably miss a bit of preseason due to surgery straight after this finals campaign.

My take on it is Port have edged into slight favourites ahead of GWS to snare him. Brisbane out to third and Swans have denied talking to him although they said that about Buddy last year. Dont know if Port has made an offer yet but both GWS and Brisbane are reportedly offering around $650k over 4 and 5 years respectively. If Port offers similar or maybe up around $700k he will be theirs
