The worst thing is that people like Cousins become parents when they are in no state to become parents. So here we have another two young children brought up in dysfunctional situations that no amount of public money is going to fix. Wow, we really need more of this in society

I thought exactly the same thing, lawyerly attempt at humour maybe. Not sure jail will help Cuz much though.

Dont really like seeing anyone get put away (except the sick freaks that deserve a bullet), but I think this probably needed to happen for BC - Nothing else has worked, so no point rinsing and repeating, hopefully, HOPEFULLY this can be the moment where genuine change occurs as a result.

Not sure anyone would hold their breath on it though.

Did I hear it reported correctly this morning that his phone calls to his Dad were tapped recently and over a period of time.........and he has told his Dad he doesn't want to be clean and loves the lifestyle.
He also said he only went to rehab to shut people up and never really gave it a go............

Also it was mentioned his Dad spends every day ringing and looking for Ben until he knows he's still alive and well.

I feel so much for his parents and what they have been through..............I hope for their sake, jail time gets him back on the right path.

Let's be honest he deserves to be there ... and it's long over due... no hopefully his ex wife can have some peace. But he'll go straight back on the gear when he comes out. He has said previously he doesn't want to stop

He said that when first put in jail and was coming down- has since said he wants help and if he didn't go to jail was set to be in rehab for 6 months- lawyer has said he will go into rehab when released.

Another former West Coast Eagle in trouble with the law.

Former West Coast Eagles rookie Ben Sharp, who blames his spiral into drug addiction on his ex-teammates, has been sentenced to nine years' jail for his part in an armed robbery.

Sharp, 30, his younger brother Christopher and friend Nathan Lack, 35, were armed with guns when they stole $287,000 from a cash carrier van at Sunbury, north-west of Melbourne, in November 2014.

The Victorian County Court heard the trio all had intense addictions to the drug ice at the time.

In sentencing, Judge Geoffrey Chettle said Sharp, who was drafted by the Eagles in 2004 at the age of 18, blamed senior players for pressuring him to take cocaine.

Matt Priddis has announced his retirement at seasons end. An absolute loyal servant and he came off the rookie list to be one of the best players to don the Eagles Guernsey. People may say he didn't deserve his Brownlow and he is one of the worst Brownlow medalists but his consistency and ability to win the contested ball makes that claim a disgrace. An absolute gun and well done on a fantastic career Pridda.
