But doesn’t this mean you are playing 3 or 4 games per year in WA now. WA media seemed to indicate you play at least 1 game per year in Bunbury

I thought these two games were in addition to any normal “home” games that West Coast or Freo play North. It’s just your “home” games against them would also be played in Perth.
Perhaps they just haven’t explained it well enough

NM selling two games to WA for $2m makes sense - except helping NM win now.

WA govt pays, saves AFL $2m
2x less low-drawing Hobart games v non-Vic teams
Good $ = more viable to bring other 2 Tas games back to Melb in 2028 ( 2028 )
Another 40k at Optus & new market in Bunbury

Great for their bottom line on their profit and loss statement but not for their W/L column

Surely a team trying to rebuild and move up the ladder should be more focused on winning rather than $ at this stage
I thought they were financially in a good spot?

They're debt free, which is a credit to them, but at what cost on field and long term?

They've won 3, 3, 2, 4 and 3 games in the last 5 years.

Crowds are down and they're selling games, sorry, wins, to WA sides for money because of those crowds.

This helps the AFL a lot with the WA teams, will wait for more detail but if we dont have to go back to Perth at all then this is a great deal as we can go there twice a year anyway.

Surely it means you will be playing there up to 4 times per year, more likely to be 3 in most years.

The AFL are using North to placate the WA sides over Gather Round.

2025 will be the final year we play home games (2) in Hobart, along with the 2 games in WA
The 2 games we play in WA generate the same money as the 4 we previously played in Hobart

So instead of playing two games in Tasmania you'll be playing 2 games in WA as "home" games for $2.5m a year.

Edit - The other two Tasmania games ( usually 4 per year ) move back to Melbourne. That's a win.

2025 - 7 Marvel, 2 Tas, 2 WA

2026/27 - 9 Marvel, 2 WA

I wonder who foots the bill for the squad to spend 8 days in Perth?

If it's out of your pocket the $2.5m cops a hit. Be 26-28 players, 15-20 coaches and support staff so at a guess 50+/- people in Perth for 8 nights.
