Heard rumors about him from a good source several weeks ago.
Disturbing to say the least if they're true.

Dont know alot about what Bombers said over the years but Damien Barrett on Triple M reckons alot of his answers to Mike are opposite of what he's said in the past, and last night on AFL360 robbo pulled him up on something he said on the show a week ago which was opposite of what he said in the interview! Felt like he still wants to coach the last 10 minutes where him pumping up his tyres about his capabilites of building a club in the right environment, be interesting to see if he gets another crack at the top job.

Yep his a very weird cat

That's what makes me think the drug rumours may not be true and just coming from people who aren't use to naturally slightly odder people

John Elliott last night.
Half an hour nowhere near enough. I doubt two hours would be.
I could listen to his thoughts, opinions, anecdotes, memories & the bullshit & lies that go with it all night.
Very, very smart & entertaining man.

His comment about members not being interested in the finances at AGMs was a telling one.

Incorrect & unfair to lay sole blame at his feet.

I wouldnt have thought so. Big reason they fell in the first place, but they had somewhat recovered financially by mid-late 2000's, were performing better on the park, and had better attendance.

It's not Elliott's fault Carlton couldn't control Fevola, sacked Ratten, let Betts go, signed Daisy Thomas etc.

He definitely oversaw an operation that hurt them, I guess at least he also oversaw some success too.

His deception cost them dearly both financially and in the next few drafts.
They were a basket case before Fevola got too big for his own good, and perhaps some stronger guidance around the place in his formative years and he could've ended up 300 gamer with over 1000 goals.
IMO, Big John rolled up the ball of snow and kicked it slightly over the edge of the crest, there were many other contributors that turned it into an avalanche.
I don't really think that they've tried starting from scratch again since, they've had some great players don the guernsey and have looked good on paper, it just hasn't all come together for them yet, maybe it's time for a complete clean out on and off the field.

Sacking Ratten was a huge mistake.
Letting Betts go probably not so much of a huge mistake, I think he needed a change of scenery and I think moving to Adelaide is what has resulted in the form.
As for Daisy, sheesh, Mick certainly fluffed up there.

Elliott can't avoid criticism completely for sure, but it was a long time ago and they've had the chance to get back on track since then imho .. They've just compounded the original damage by adding more in recent years.

It was amazing TV last night. Cant imagine the courage for mark eustice to stand up there and lay his skeletons out for everyone like that.

I reckon mike deliberately steered clear of asking him more about his son though, that seemed to be one step too far
