I don't actually think many players decide their own retirement times without some sort of tap on the shoulder beforehand.

Robbie Tarrants acceptance speech was great too.

Absolutely, when the average wage is heading towards $400k pa, more and more players will be told to retire rather than the player making the call.

this is true. cant really blame them for this, you are a long time retired.

I guess Tippett, Gunston, Davis and Dangerfield at least left while in, or before, their prime. Much better to have the decision taken out of your hands... ;)

Will be an enjoyable season next year. I'm predicting Port and the Crows will be able to compare notes next year on not living up to expectations.

The roos could write a book on this given their start to the season.

Seriously though im not sure what the crows has to do with my comments on your team. irrelevant.

Just pointing out that your ability, or lack of, to retain elite players means you probably won't ever have to worry about making tough decisions.

Or is it only you who can comment negatively about other people's clubs?

Certainly unlike Chaplain's exit from Port

Had nothing to do with Port, that ballsack left on his own accord and what does it have to do with what we're talking about here?

All exited their clubs, some handled it with integrity, class and respect for the club they represented, some don't.

CHRIS PELCHEN’S POSSIBLE NORTH MELBOURNE TEAM FOR ROUND 1, 2017

B: Luke McDonald, Scott Thompson, Shaun Atley

HB: Sam Wright, Robbie Tarrant, Lachie Hansen

C: Jed Anderson, Jack Ziebell (captain), Jamie Macmillan

HF: Mason Wood, Jarrad Waite, Shaun Higgins

F: Lindsay Thomas, Ben Brown, Taylor Garner

FOLL: Todd Goldstein, Andrew Swallow, Ben Cunnington

I/C: Taylor Dumont, Sam Gibson, Ryan Clarke, Ed Vickers-Willis

That side still looks OK to me

Yep I reckon you'll still make the 8, no where near as bad as they say.
No one gave the Crows a chance in 97 after Blight wielded the axe on the veterans.

Ps Quality posting in here today lads, keep it up

4 Neville Nonames on the bench, depth obviously the issue now.

Majak still wont get a run?

With the exception of Mason wood, there isnt too many young blokes in that team that you will think gee he is going to be a good player.

Jed Anderson showed glimpse in his past life at the Hawks but seems to be always injured.

The highlighted I would say are either at or past their best, would you agree North fans? Bold and italic, on the downhill slide of their careers.

Can't see any improvement from much of that side.

I don't think Norths best 22 will be that bad, but lack of depth will see it drop away quickly. Will be interesting to see how they attack the draft and trades

How many potential AA players do you see in that group Boney?

1. Tarrant, had a very good year this year. Can I see him getting better? Unlikely. Can I see him getting more work to do? Shit yes.

Thomas & Cunnington both had poor years for what they're capable of, I'd expect a lot more from the pair next season.
If Higgins & Goldy can stay injury free & play like last year, they can push for AA again. You're always going to have players who are now past their absolute best, that doesn't mean there isn't a spot for them or they still can't play their role.
I'd expect Daw to play the majority of the year.

It is something that I admired about the Roo's in 2016, with the exception of Goldstein, they had no outright champions, they had a hard working group that was getting the job done week in, week out. The draw was always going to test them as the season went on, probably needed a couple of harder games in the first 10 rounds.

Yep, it's time for Majak to step up. I'd like to see them pick someone up to compensate for the loss of Wells, even though he missed a fair bit it would be great to pick up a classy midfielder with pace to go with who they have already.
