AFL Season 2023

Brownlows like Magareys are worth SFA. It is simply unrealistic for them to cast judgement on player performance to the best 3 out of 46 players.

The coaches votes are the best indicator when there is voting from outside (it is the RO Shearman in the SANFL not sure about the AFL).

Club B&F means far more.

To be voted the best player in the whole competition is a very worthy award and to be fair the umps get it right most of the time.
However they are human and do have a bias toward some players good and bad.
Agreed club b&F's are the pinnacle.

Just watching the AFL Hall of Fame night and impressed at Michael Aish who was well in front of his time but I am curious how he managed to "google" Neil Balme in 1981?!

Norm smith in a winning GF is imo

Looks bad on Hardwick I reckon. Steps aside citing lack of desire etc....then a month later wants back in.
Whoops, there goes another year. Whoops, there goes another pint of beer.

I can see that point, but I think it's more that Hardwick had taken Richmond as far as he can

I think he made it clear in his presser he was done at Richmond, he'd exhausted all avenues there.

Are the AFL chipping in extra $$ for him to coach the Suns?
Doesn’t look good on him.
They could have waited til years end at least.

Hardwick hasn't done anything.
He quit at Richmond as he couldn't do anymore.
Had a few weeks off and realised he was institutionalised by the game.
It's the media that drive the possibilities of hom coaching Suns and that Simpson can't survive as coach etc

If he doesn’t coach the suns then it’s all good.
If he takes on a Melbourne side I’d say all good and he made this decision after leaving Richmond but you don’t move states without a lot of discussions beforehand and it’ll look like the suns job was his and that’s why he quit Richmond.
There are no stupid questions, just stupid people.

Hardwick going to gc would be a great move for the game.
It would make them relevant but also if he couldn't get them to finals, thereby building crowds, then nobody can.
I don't think he's done anything wrong by Richmond, he was honest and said he couldn't take them any further.

I can't see him coaching next year, he needs a year off - even if he doesn't think so
