Not a particularly good outcome. Pressure on the two recruits and the recruiters with the two picks.

If we finish top 2 ie play in grand final next years 1st will be 17 or 18 before comp picks free agency , should be able pick up some quality players with 13, 26 and 36 in this years ( as I have said previously ) supposed deep super draft

Lol, on what basis do you see Port making a Grand Final? There has been a 12 year sample size to suggest it wont happen. More likely you have given up pick 6-10

Why is everyone ignoring the insanity of Dan Rioli for picks 6 and 23?

As a long time Richmond supporter, the Tigers are in a world of pain. Rioli isn’t worth that but do the Gold Coast really need them with their young list.
Martin, Grimes, Baker, Graham gone, all premiership players, Bolton and Rioli to go, also premiership players. Lynch is old and injury prone.
Nice to have a lot of top 20 draft picks but rebuild is a soft way of putting it.
Sorry but Yze doesn’t do it for me and he ain’t ever going to be the next ‘premiership coach’

World of pain just like the 20 years before the Hardwick era.

I might just start barracking for the Pies cos they have just pulled of a serious trade coup.

Im stoked to get Houston.
I've been playing it down because he could've stayed at Port.
I think that's the sweetest thing.
We've pinched their best player.
It's cost us but he's worth it.

If we didn't we wouldn't have got pick 29.

Now we can bundle 50 and 36 into something in the 20's by the end of the day and have 3 picks inside 30 when we had none.

That's because Gold Coast have and will never understand the value of draft picks. It's irrelevant as it's not accurate.

I desperately wanted him at Carlton too.
We should have given Port whatever they wanted here.
We are 30 years without a premiership and the next 2 years is our best chance to end that.
He would have been perfect.

If Port fans were left feeling disgruntled yesterday, I’m not sure listening to their list manager Jason Cripps on SEN this morning would’ve eased the pain. Pretty much danced around every question Garry Lyon & Tom Morris threw at him and went on to put cringeworthy spin on everything.

We've lost Houston and next years first round pick.

With lots of academy and f/son picks next year in a weaker draft it's likely that pick would be in the late teens perhaps early 20's and as such wouldn't be valued too highly. If the 2025 draft is weak and compromised and 2027 will see the first of Tasmania's picks we've got this year and 2026 to get some youth into the club.

With Lukosius and Richards coming in, two players we were after along with 13, 29, 36 and 50 when we only had 39 and 58 is sound list management.

We'll turn 36 and 50 into something in the 20's and where we had nothing inside 30 we'll have 3. This years draft from 10-30 is rated highly and very even meaning we're every chance to get someone we really want.

Cut back the layers and we've played the longer game. Be stronger with Houston in 2025 and compromise the list going forward to keep moving.

You think you will be able to turn pick 36 and 50 into a pick in the 20s?

I think you will keep 50 to use on Benny if a bid comes in around the 40 mark for him
