He tended to drop in and out of the game, possibly due to low confidence, as a result.
(I'm not saying he could have been a "star", or that the Crows shouldn't have taken Pavlich instead.)

Can't disagree there (unfortunately).

McGregor was actually not a bad player at all.

Not a champion, but will always be harshly viewed due to the comparison with Pavlich and what he has achieved at Freo (and not the Crows, and in hindsight obviously people think the Crows made a big blunder there, but its an unfair call given the amount of other clubs who overlooked Pavlich).

The way I look @ it is Freo can have Pav, after all they gave up 2 legends of the game for pretty much a pkt of Twisties in the 90's. 1 has 2 premierships and 2 Norm Smith medals and the other is a premiership player and kicked 800 goals.

No club knew what Pavlich was going to turn into, otherwise he wouldn't have been completely overlooked that draft. Heck, even after his breakout SANFL season he still only got picked up at #4 behind Fraser, Hasleby and Fiora.

Anyway, I think a much better player to name this team after would be David Gallagher.....
