Hmm, that means Geelong would be gone as well :(

Geelong were fined $77,000 in 1998 and excluded from the 1999 pre-season draft after it was found that they had exceeded the salary cap by $154,000 during the 1997 season.

That's it, strip 2007 out of the record books :p

Rob Chapman was just on 5AA sounding very confident apparently ... anyone hear it?

It seems like we are playing pretty aggressive hardball with Tippett and his manager.

Apparently Caro making claims that Tippett isn't going to end up at Sydney

It's like a soap opera

it could be Tippett is forced somewhere else and the Crows lose any compensation for him ... lose/lose

Crows in trouble - CHEATS

Postby Turbo » Wed Oct 24, 2012 5:25 pm

Crows will cop a fine $500,000ish, maybe draft sanctions this year or next year and Tippett will receive a suspension as will his manager.
There will be action against this as a deterrent for others not to do this (although its hard to believe its happened especially with a semi spud like Tippett)

Obviously I don't know the bloke personally, but I thought Chapman sounded a bit nervous .. He also refused to speculate on whether there would be ramifications for any individuals at the AFC, which I took to be a question pointed at Steven Trigg.

Of course its cheating.
The Crows have agreed to a deal that would see Tippett head home for a 2nd round pick so even if another club offered pick 1 they wouldnt accept it. That is obstructing the draft IMO because the Crows have basically accepted a deal stating they wont trade with anyone else.

Hypothetically, what if Tippet had been shit the last 3 years does that mean whoever wanted him would have to give a 2nd round pick even if he is worth only a 4th round
At the time of the deal trhere is no way of knowing what his worth will be.
IMO whoever initiated the deal should be hit hardest, wether that be the Crows or Tippet and his management.
But at the same time i really think its a storm in a tea cup. How is it any different to Tippet saying i want to be traded to Sydney or Stevens nominating Bulldogs or Dawes and Melbourne, to me that is trade tampering not draft tampering. And isnt that the idea of trades

First of all the Crows Board and Management who were involved in the deal need to go no questions asked here!!!!!

To be continually told by by certain people at Crowland that no deal exists shows them to be bare face liars and
TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE

1. The Crows should have traded Tippett when they had the chance several years ago.

2. The Crows in making this deal hoped that would have played in the GF and hoped that Kurt would have wanted to stay.

3. To only ask for a second round draft pick was dumb and naive at best.

4. What has got the Crows caught out that they hoped that Kurt would go back to QLD to where both the Gold Coast and
Brisbane would be a bottom side not a top side in Sydney.

5. To put an extra agreement in the players contract and agree with it and not lodge it with the AFL is just plain stupid by the
club and someone needs to be held accountable for this.

6. The Crows have been caught out here by Tippett deciding to go to Sydney and not either of the QLD teams.

Should the Crows be penalised for this and the answer is yes. Are they tampering with the draft? and the answer is yes.

The whole draft and trade process is a restraint of trade without doubt!!! but that is for another blog.

The Crows have been just plain dumb with this and now must suffer the consequences

Let that be a lesson to you Sturt. You don't beat Glenelg 3 times in a row in Grand Finals and get away with it.
