I saw all three play in a state trial match earlier this year, they should go good.

It's great for them to go to Collingwood together, will make the whole transition into the AFL system alot easier for them I reckon.

Don't know why the Adelaide clubs are not as smart as the Perth clubs who recruit mainly local players who are most likely to stay in their home town and play their entire career with that club. The Adelaide clubs are continually fighting to keep these interstate players from going home and having to pay them more and doing illegal deals.
I guess no matter how many times you are burnt some people never learn.

Port probably would have taken Toumpas if he was available.

Their first 2 picks were from Vic Country, who are easier to retain than players wanting to return to Melbourne.

How Collingwood managed to snare Grundy at Pick 18, I'll never know, but that is a huuuuge steal.

Spot on mate and this would have been a big consideration for the pies and a very very smart move! This is why Collingwood is a long way ahead of a lot of clubs.

Exactly what they need as well. A ruckmen who can fo forward and take a grab. I would expect him to see some game time soon.

If you believe the people in the know. The crows got the steel of the draft. Rory Atkins was tipped to go in the 25 to 35 range and crows got him with pick 81

He will shine after Collingwood loose patience and trade him before he reaches maturity.

Yeah dont know what the story is there.
I know the Essendon forum went into meltdown when we didnt grab him with our second pick. Many experts did say he would go 25-35, must be some doubts or issues with him

Peter Rhode on Sam Colquhoun not being picked up -

"And Sam's availability has caught us by surprise a bit.

"I was shocked he wasn't drafted because he kicks the ball really well, he runs really well and he can find the ball as well as anyone.

Colquhoun, 17, won SA's MVP award at this year's Under-18 championships, averaging 28 disposals off half-back. He had been expected to be a late first or early second-round national draft pick.

If he is that good why didnt you pick him up!!!!! Shows where Port are at at the moment...

Little has been said about Port refusing to take pick 37 for Ben Jacobs from the Roos and let him go to the draft where Roos use the same pick to pick him up and Port get nothing....

I might be wrong, however I understand that even if Port took pick 37, they wouldn't have used it as they only had 3 spots on the list, with their third pick being #30. So they may as well be given pick number 200, it would have been just as useful.
Therefore, if you are getting nothing, why make it easier for BJ? Force him into the draft where he might be picked up by someone else before the roos and not get to his preferred club.

You're spot on Trader. Port were offerered nothing we could use in the draft. Anything lower than 30 was pointless. We were offered crap like Matt Campbell....who we could also get for....nothing.
