Its not that important that Essendon play finals from a $$$ perspective as many people both attend and watch finals no matter who is playing.

As to the individuals i dont think there is any choice, the precedent was set with the VFL players.

I think i am right in saying if anyone gets 2 years the lose all awards they may have gained plus any endorsments, not sure about salary though.

I did comment on this before when the bombers announced there re contracting of certain players not sure if they will still get paid or not .... this is just turning in to a massive farce and the AFL will be the ones with egg all over there faces ... the sooner this is sorted the better for all involved and the completion as a whole !

If some players get suspended and dont get paid and Essendon are still playing next year would they still have to make their minimum salary payments?
Might be a good time to hang around if you didnt take any drugs, there will be 1st and 2nd year listed players on 500k a season

The AFL have said all along that they won't say or do anything themselves until the findings of the investigation are released, which hasn't happened yet

Has ASADA just discovered something that has turned the investigation upside down, and it's the reason watson has come out? Watson could also be a major piece of the puzzle, you ban him straight away and he could accept his ban and stop talking.

You have to look at it from the AFL prospective they aren't the one doing the investigation, they basically have to sit back and wait on ASADA. For ASADA not to put a immediate ban on him makes me think either it wasn't banned at the time, or there is something big about to rock the AFL. They could go the disrepute route but what happens when he is cleard in a couple of weeks or month. Look at how quick Armstrong lost everything, you don't think watson would be seeing the AFL in court.

Trust you to come up with absolute rubbish! The AFL silence on this is digraceful. They came out and commented on the Milne issue and that is under investigation by a regulated law enforcement body as is ASADA - hard to see the difference in terms of media silence!

absolute rubbish? Do you actually know the situation? The AFL can't do anything until ASADA provide a infringement notice at which time they can then suspend him. What do you want the AFL to come out and say? The AFL aren't the ones doing the investigation and the AFL aren't the ones that hand out the suspension, in other words it's out the AFL hands.

Hird and Essendon are not happy with West Coast fan booing Watson. You want to play drug cheats then you deserve what you get I hope he gets booed every touch he gets until he is rubbed out and has his Brownlow stripped!

So your saying the AFL can suspend someone for bringing the game into disrepute despite the club being fined for not tanking.

BUT

a player who ADMITS on national tv to taken a banned substance cant be suspended by the AFL.

Your also saying they cant come out and talk about the Watson scenario yet can come out and make comments on the Milne case.

They banned Cousins despite him not actually been found guilty of drug charges yet cant touch a bloke who admits use of performance enhancing drugs.

Kickinit i think the AFL's bright lights have gone to your head, you the biggest AFL yes man fan boy that i have ever read or meet.

Is Andy D a relation of yours.

Thats it, bringing the game into disrepute. They could have and should have suspended Watson in my view. The way the whole scandal has been handled by the AFL has been stage managed right from the start.

He can't be suspended by the AFL if ASADA haven't charged him with anything. Yes he has admitted to taking a substance which according to WADA is a banned substance, but until they actually hand out that infringement notice the AFL can't do anything. This is how any sport that follows ASADA code works, it's not just the AFL.

I don't know if you have actually heard what the AFL have said but they came and said milne is welcome back when st kilda think he's ready to play, they the AFL haven't put any ban on him, and even said innocent until proven guilty.

Cousins is a different situation. Cousins actually had grounds to sue the AFL for that did because he never tested positive to anything. Me personally think it was his family that made him try to get his life back in order rather then trying to go against the AFL.

Even though watson has come out said what he did it goes a lot deeper then that. Your talking about a entire club and not just the players. This investigation is that big it even had a ACC investigation. Basically if they suspended watson right now he could go away until his hearing and not have to talk to ASADA, how much good is that going to do to their investigation.

And to just inform you I don't agree with it. I personally think the entire essendon football club should be suspended instantly. But the AFL follow a world wide code and when you follow that code you have to abide by their rules, which the AFL are doing.

Was ironic to hear boos from the West Coke Eagles supporters though.
Dont mind copping stick from most clubs supporters but would of thought they would be the least likely to take the high morale ground considering their past

I didnt realize Cousins admitted drug use on national TV before being suspended nor that he played whilst he should have been suspended.

This is all really giving me the 5hits. How the media and Essendon go on about sticking together and showing character, the us against the rest mentality when it is you, YES YOU that have bought it on yourselves.
FFS just hurry up, rub them out and give Mitchell and Cotchin their DESERVED medals.

West Coke has a wing named after a guy who died after overdosing on Coke and Fletcher flatlined whilst having a night on coke aswell, thats without even mentioning Cousins.
I did hear that if Watson loses his medal no one will receive one and last years winner would remain blank.
Plenty more to be played out yet Days, I wouldnt think Jobe would speak so openly without having some idea of the outcome. Got a feeling this will drag out for awhile yet especially with lawyers getting involved

Essendon are drug cheats, simple as that.
West coast had a recreational drug problem that didn't affect anyone other then themselves.

Stop comparing Essendon to West Coast, West Coast never cheated.
Ban them, Move on.

think watson is playing the help us fry the bigger fish and we'll cut down your sentence. Essendon know they are stuffed and probably trying to find every way they can to get out of it. Wada are going to make sure ASADA and the AFL hand out heavy bans and if they don't they'll appeal the decision to the court of arbitration for sport.

Kickinit - if you go back to my previous post I was (as WHUFC pointed out) referring to the silence / no comment in any shape or form by the AFL. I mentioned nothing about penalties or suspensions so perhaps using your finger underneath every word as you read will help the slow dim witted like you?
