Its pretty amazing that Patrick Cripps is 7cm taller than Dermott Brereton when you think about the roles they play.

We are clearly debating this so Eddie comes out on top for Benny.

Qualification
- must be on Adelaides list
-must have played at Carlton 1st

This narrows it down to Troy Bond, Troy Menzel and Eddie Betts

Further qualification criteria
-No Troy's allowed

Winner Eddie!!!

Jason Dunstall on the Couch - in the current finals system, only 5/64 top 4 teams have gone out in straight sets.

Yes, but this year is not like for like. All the bye does is help out the teams from 5-8. I think it's a disgrace by the way. How come teams pick and chose teams as they feel in the pre-season for 4 weeks and its all kosher (betting on those games too) and then when 2-3 teams blatantly rest players for 1 round a year when they have done the hard work themselves for 20 weeks prior then it's all of a sudden an issue? European soccer clubs do this all the time between competitions.

Sometimes the AFL listens too much, just need to let things go and they will then sort them selves out.

Why is it a disgrace that the finals series is more even?

It's pretty rubbish that only the top 4 have had a chance when you think about it.

I don't like the bye but closing he gap between 4th and 5th in terms of their chances of winning s flag is a good thing for the comp (nothing to do with the crows finishing 5th)

No it isn't, the top four earned the gap. If a team is good enough and lucky enough, they can win from 5th-8th but there is a reason they are 5th-8th - they aint good enough...

They already get a double chance and home finals. Surely a week off benefits them as much as the lower teams on average?

In this instance it helped the dogs but it will help others too

The advantage is gained by winning the first final and getting the week off after 23 rounds of football, that's eroded by the fact all clubs just had the weekend off.

I agree with that, the only thing that could throw it out is the inequities in the draw .. If all teams played one another twice both home and away, then none could argue with it imho. But even with the current fixture setup, I think if you finish top 4 you deserve the perks.

Think the pre-finals bye is here to stay for the foreseeable future though.

The only good thing about it was the Thursday night final.

Will they continue with a women's exhibition game when they have their own comp? Maybe they could do a state of origin that the blokes couldn't do...

If they are going to continue with the bye they need to do something, it was crap not having a full weekend of footy

Looking up footywire at some crowd averages

Hawthorn are currently 13th in average home crowd figures - they have only been outside the top 6 once since 2008 and that was 7th in 2009

talk about jumping off when your team is shite.

As mentioned in the port thread - their crowd against brisbane is the second lowest in the Adelaide Oval era, behind a giants game last year.

Despite that they still average the 5th best home crowds this year and have been in the top 6 every year in the AO era

Was looking at the Hawks figures last week i think it was, not really a great reflection - played couple of games in Tassie with the lower capacity and a couple games against traditionally poorer draw card sides eg STK, GC

The worst AFL game I have ever been to was the Port v Hawthorn game @ the MCG in 2004.

11k.

In the current finals system, 0 out of 4 top four sides have won the premiership.
