In 2 player interviews I've heard 'We knew Essendon were up and about' and 'We knew Essendon would bring contested ball'

F**k me give me spell.

I'm really glad Carlton got booted from Fri night footy (seriously) but to replace them with Essendon is just ratings suicide.

Yeah pretty much spot on. Would have thought in the last year of the TV rights deal you would maximize you good teams and good games in the prime timeslots.

Programming was done before we were sanctioned. The fixture was requested by West Coast to celebrate the 10 year reunion with the first matchup between Woosha and the Eagles.

Yep, pretty sad the umps have to cheat against the worst side in the comp

If the umps were cheating then you think the free kick count would be something like 28 - 5 rather that 16 - 9.

They tried evening up once the game was done and dusted. First quarter frees were 7-0 and we led by 3 points and were smashing them in contested ball and clearances. It's the ones we don't get that hurt just as much, Kennedy gets soft frees for nothing and down the other end McGovern has Mitch Brown in a headlock and hanging on at every contest and no free. Tippa stands up in a tackle, gets his head ripped off and no free, moments later Shuey Ducks worse than Selwood and it's a free. When the commentators start taking the piss you know it's fixed

Massive surprise those sanctions. Couldn't have seen that coming. Second part OTM though.

I heard a commentator on the ABC radio saying that the Bombers aren't going to improve by sticking with this game plan.

I didn't see any of last nights match and heard the first qtr on the radio, but I thought it was pretty clear for everybody, that the Bombers are just doing their best to get through the year, get some game time into kids etc......

This is exactly why the 'fix'ture is absolutely rubbish. Clubs should have NO say in the draw.

/endrant

FWIW I thought the bombers were OK for nearly 3/4s. Certainly didnt deserve an 80 point belting. (I tipped Eagles by 79 so happy with that).

Hinkley should blow his top at 1/4 time. Disgraceful 1/4, nearly our worst for the year. 2nd to the ball, no work rate, every time it goes in Richmonds forward 50 the forward has 10m of space and the hardest thing we've done is run to a push and shuff at 1/4 time. Maybe show some f**king fight during play.

In patches it just looks like both clubs know their season is over and are just going through the motions
