Or will the AFL favour players who are still eligible you think?

He is still eligible for nomination, just can't win it.

Not sure on how they would think, a brilliant standout game still has to be acknowledged I guess.

Who knows how they’ll look at it.
I remember Corey McKernan tied for the ‘96 Brownlow but was ineligible due to ridiculous suspension.
He polled votes in 4 of the first 5 games, was reported round 6 then only polled 4 of the last 17 matches. He should’ve got plenty more votes, trust me.
The AFL didn’t want a stand alone winner ineligible.

The important thing is that you moved on. ;)

REB

This, and being cheated in the the ‘94 Prelim - they’re the 2 that were out of our control.

Yep, disgraceful suspension, he also missed out on the 94 Rising Star award due to being suspended for tripping by hand.

They abolished being suspended for hand tripping the following year.

Couple of blatant ones on the weekend, Riley Bonner clearly deliberately tripped when running off half back.

A deliberate one should be 50m penalty.

He would tear Ryder, Jacobs, Kruezer etc apart if he played today.
Absolute gun!

He was the best player in the comp by a mile in ‘96 & at North for a couple of years he was more valuable than Carey.

Bloke by the name of Koutoufides might disagree with you. ;)

That would of course depend on the amount of red tins the night before the game though.....

Longmire not buying into Walker criticism

ADELAIDE captain Taylor Walker and his Crows have copped a wave of criticism over last week's disappointing loss to Collingwood, but their round five opponents Sydney are preparing for a totally different side ahead of their Friday night clash at the SCG.

Walker kicked two goals from 13 possessions against the Magpies but struggled to have an influence on the match, in which the home side suffered a shock 48-point defeat.

The skipper's effort level and competitiveness has been questioned in certain parts of the media, but Swans coach John Longmire said he hasn't given Walker's poor round four reviews a single thought.

"He's a quality AFL captain, he led them to a Grand Final last year," he said.

"He's a quality player, they're all quality players at the Adelaide footy club and he's a very good captain.

"It won't be easy, and the challenges keep presenting themselves every week.

"We need to be on top of our game and as sharp as we can possibly be, because you can't let your guard down (against any opposition)."

Longmire said the sharp focus has been put on Adelaide's loss, but little credit has been given to the Pies for their outstanding win on the road.

He pointed to the Crows' round two performance when they smashed reigning premier Richmond by 36 points and said his side will concentrate their energy on encountering that type of intensity from Don Pyke's men.

"Collingwood had to play really well to win and had a fantastic four-quarter performance, but we'll look at what Adelaide do at their best," he said.

"We watched them against the Tigers a couple of weeks ago and saw what they did then.

"Sometimes you have an off day but there's an opposition that has a say in how you go, and that tends to get lost a bit sometimes as well.

"We know that Adelaide are a gun football team, they played a Grand Final last year and had the season they had, and the football they played two weeks ago was 'A' grade."

He didn't leave much in the gene pool for his brother did he...

Bahahaha
He’s still on Essendons list isn’t he?

He is like that stray puppy who rocks up on your doorstep, now we can’t get rid of him :)
Apparently he is really good with our kids in the VFL and he still dominates games at that level but isn’t quite good enough to play higher

I disagree, Lyon is capable of anything so he's at least potentially entertaining.

Yep, agree on Lyon.
