Fancy picking out the bits worth reading for me?

The statement suggests that the absence of a dominant inside midfielder, often referred to as a "bull," may be a key factor preventing teams like Brisbane and Port Adelaide from winning AFL flags. The argument points out that recent premiership sides, including Richmond, Melbourne, Western Bulldogs, Collingwood, and Geelong, possessed such powerful midfielders who could also contribute in forward play. The author acknowledges that while Port Adelaide, under coach Hinkley, has become a strong team, they may lack the essential ingredient needed to secure a flag. The mention of Hinkley's acceptable job and the recognition that winning a flag isn't easy indicates a balanced perspective on the team's performance. The importance of having formidable inside midfielders over serviceable ruckmen is also highlighted, drawing comparisons to successful teams like Collingwood in the mentioned year and the Western Bulldogs in 2016.

I seem to remember a Pear player recently winning a Brownlow as a dominant inside mid, where did he get to? Traded? Injured all year?

Surely he wasn't played out of his best position by the coaching staff?

He's flying, he's in good nick, been training the house down, set a PB in the time trial, he's a lock to get more midfield minutes in 2024 :D

Boards or committees in every sporting club in Australia would have ex players on them, the AFL clubs would be no different.

Abernethy (and others) oversaw the darkest days of our clubs history and anyone with a memory long enough should give him no time when considering who to vote for.

I’m not sure Tredders is in it for the club either.
Warren could make bigger waves than Bruce.
But I see what you’re saying with Bruce.

Abernethy isn't in it because he wants to be, he's been talked into it.

Tredrea is an interesting proposition on many fronts, worked that out beyond doubt when his wife was told to stop handing out anti-vax propaganda outside their kids school.

Funny story from a while back.
I had a delivery to him about a year or two after he retired, I rock up at his house and knock on the door and he comes out in just his jocks and says “I’ve just been doing some weights”. I say no worries and even though I knew who he was I felt like being a smartarse and asked for his name and to sign my scanner to which he quips “you don’t watch football do ya mate”. :)
