Disagree - they'll be Minor Premiers;
Then, out in straight sets;
Hinkley will get re-appointed after the first final;

again

Unless we win a flag, this will be Ken's last coaching contract at Port.

With the body of evidence in front of us which affirms the absolute contrary, do you honestly believe this to be true?

Make the top 4 and it’s anyone’s flag this year.
It’s so open this year.
I just hope the Blues can finish in the top 4 to give us that chance.
There are no stupid questions, just stupid people.

Probably will be, there's enough evidence to suggest that once again we'll win enough minor round games to be in or around the top 6, perhaps top 4 but that's not where the test lies for this group under Hinkley. It's in the last month against quality opposition when we know what will unfold again.

You can only give yourself the opportunity, which it looks like they will do.

Indeed it is and the metrics the board and football department look at when deciding to reappoint the coach all point to him doing the job he is asked to do, make finals first and give the side the opportunity to win finals. That has been achieved by way of top 4 finish 3 of the last 4 years.

But is that where the measure ends? Seems so.

( Along with other metrics like debt reduction, membership numbers, social media engagement, sponsorship dollars etc and the club has more positives than negatives to keep the status quo )

Certainly smashing it on this metric every time the side stumbles against top opposition.

When one team is nett 30+ goals better than anyone else ATM there is a clear favourite IMO

However there would be pictures of a Carl v Coll GF on the back of the men's cubicle doors on the executive floor at AFL house...

Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

Need to remember football clubs (well most) are run as a business now, not as a football club.
From Ports perspective as a business, they are nailing it under Ken and the board. From a football club in the old ways (especially the old ways of Port), they are not.

Ken publicly stated 3-4 weeks ago that there is no succession plan in place and he is the coach of the place for as long as the job is his.

Get doubting, my friend. We are in this position until he either;

A) retires on his own accord.
B) passes away.

Thats media speak

if he didn't deny it the Adelaide media and to a lesser extent the broader AFL media would be in meltdown right now not to mention the hits/engagement on the Port media pages....

Again - with broader evidence affirming the contrary, it's far from just talk.

Dedja - the worst bit is - Ken Hinkley is the least of our troubles.

The chairman is the tumor that needs to be removed. Keep him there and all the metrics that Boon has mentioned in previous posts will continue to remain of the highest priority.

Winning a premiership will never be one of them.

Watching Ken's presser, I would be infuriated as a Port fan. Basically, said he was happy with the first 3 quarters and got exposed in the last. Happy with being down for most of the first three quarters at home against a depleted Carlton who usually suck at Adelaide oval? Georgiadis was the only reason you were in it in the first 3 quarters and that was because McGovern is like a baby giraffe one on one and goes to ground too easily.

I’m glad you said this out loud as this has been my point in various posts over the last few months, that is, the Port AFL is just a corporate identity, not the Port Adelaide football club that was formed in 1870 with certain values that the rest of us respected.

Could you imagine a club coached by Jack or Fos being mocked as Port AFL is now?

Absolutely, but Port at home with their list is better than Carlton most days.

This works in a state league when you can monopolise talent in SA and only compete with 9 other teams, not on a national competition fighting against 17 other teams who all have "equal" access to talent nation wide.

2 games between second and ninth means nobody in that pack should be favorite over any of the others home or away. Insane to think otherwise.
