Posted: Thu Oct 13, 2022 10:15 amI think next year they should introduce a money wheel type thing where every two hours a player gets to spin it to see where he ends up or clubs get to spin it to pick up a player or a mystery draft pick, kinda like "The player or the box".

Are you saying GC players wouldnt be aspiring to reach the same fitness peaks as their coach

His answer along the lines was that a few clubs believe that the 19th team from Tasmania is inevitable with Hawthorn being one of those (makes sense given their connection with Tasmania that they would be somewhat in the know)
Essentially, he said history has shown that teams that tried to rebuild during the period GWS and GC entered the comp all had really poor results.....
Hawthorn is trying to get a head start on the rebuild before that situation arrives.
Apparently, they now only have 3 players over the age of 26 and will be the youngest squad in the history of the AFL since lists were a thing.

Smart strategy, I'm against a Tassie team due to destroying the integrity of the draft even further.
Naturally Geelong will continue their rezoned land deals and will have no issues with drafting/recruiting.

I actually wonder if a sliding salary cap would work - those at the bottom of the ladder permitted to send a percentage more than those at the top to try and improve.
Might help when a bottom feeder wants to pick up a free agent, being able to offer slightly more - whereas at the moment all the free agents go to the best clubs it seems.

Standard salary cap is 14.7 million according to google.
North Melbourne finish bottom in 2022 so let's say they get $15.7 million salary cap for 2023 a million extra. They structure up all their wages and pay blokes 2,3,4 yer contracts etc to fit the 15.7 cap.
They then have a sudden rise and finish 2023 in 3rd and now have to drop back a million to the standard $14.7 cap.
How they are going to just dump a million dollars in salary in one year........what happens if blokes don't want to take their players or can't afford their wages etc.
If we arent talking in at least a million more is it going to have any effect given we saw a bloke like Bowes willing to take a $400k hit a year to go to a good club.
