News
The Adelaide Football Club wishes to report that Scott Welsh has advised the Club he is not going to re-sign with the Crows and will apply to register for the AFL pre-season draft.

That being the case, the Club will delist Scott this week enabling it to have the choice of picking a player in either the national or pre-season drafts.

General Manager, Football Operations, John Reid said: “The Club is disappointed the negotiations couldn’t be resolved. The basic fundamental difference was Scott being offered a one year contract by the Club, and him requiring a one year contract with trigger points to a second year related to performance and behaviour. Unfortunately the behaviour issues this year were significant to the point that the Club believed Scott needed to have a season where there were no behavioural issues at all before it would negotiate another season.”

Welsh, 29 next month, played 129 games for Adelaide after returning from the Kangaroos, where he played 36 games.

Just reported on Fox Sports news.

Just saying that negotiations have broken down and Welshy has walked out on the club - he will nominate for the draft.

Once again the crows drawing a line in the sand I guess !!!

I for one am a little sad to see him go - good luck to him with his new club.

IMHO .. Short term loss, longer term gain for the Crows ... Hopefully works out as best it can for all parties concerned.

Just curious, what do you see as the long term gain? I assume you refer to 'bad eggs, moving on'?

Seems AFC are taking a hard line when it comes to off-field indiscretions. Hudson - gone, Pfieffer - gone, Welsh - gone.
I know not all these blokes were sacked, but obviously they were offered lesser contracts than they would have hoped for.
I agree with the long term gain theory, even though i liked Welsh as a player.

No nothing like that mate, I just don't see Welsh being a part of the Crows next premiership assault so it will hopefully hasten the development of a player who might be a part of a successful era for them.

I'm not sad to see him go. He was a frontrunner and played well when we were on top and sulked when we weren't.
Finally starting to see a turnover of players an this is exactly what we need - new blood.

I suggested similar Rushby (as in your thread title), yet was howled down by fruit loop fans...

He got to bed on time though, so it's OK.

Big call at 29 to put yourself into the draft. You either need to be an absolute star or 6'7, lest you find yourself not hearing your name called.

LMOA...good headline Rushby...LOL

Why would you think he'd be good for the Doggies ?

IMO I think he may struggle to get picked up...29 y/o is no easy ask for a club.

Interesting times at Crow land, something must be in the water for the club to have
a few walkouts...
