Ben Cousin's has apparently signed with Pt Melb under Gary Ayres.
He has yet to train with the club but will so shortly.
Estimated figure of 100k.

OK. I knew he couldn't play AFL, but is Port Melbourne in the VFL, which is like the reserve grade for Melbourne or someone like that? Does that just mean he will effectively be playing AFL reserves for the year?

Looks that way mate, i don't know what AFL club Pt Melb's assigned to but Gary Ayres is coaching & has spoken to Cuzy at great depth & he has signed on the dotted line.
This will hit the papers very soon.

Isn't the VFL salary cap not much more than $100k? I'm sure his team mates will all be rapt that they get so little to share after he gets paid.

I will take your word for it, I just hope you did not get it from Big Footy because that is hardly credible.

They were aligned with Sydney and Kangaroos in the early 00's but as of 2005 they are not on board with any AFL club.

Mate in Melb hasn't let me down yet.
Theres always the 1st but i'm confident he'll come through.

Perhaps he'll have to buy cheaper product - or Gary has arranged not to pay him in cash??

Last I heard was that Port Melbourne are one of the clubs with an unlimited salary cap for Victorian born players so the cap is no issue.

Maybe the SANFL should introduce a similar system, to bring itself into line, with SA born players..

Port Melbourne officials have said that Ben will not be playing for the club.
