How crap is it? Another year, another bloated site that fails to cope with the few-hours-before-kick-off rush. Can't even get in to my Dream Team - it's not like I have a slow connection either. Useless Bigpond.

Agreed, I have ADSL 2+ and its slow to load for me, hate to think what its like for someone on dialup.
Completely useless and as sturtpeter may say inappropriate and that goes for all the generic websites the clubs use (except the Bombers who used to have a better standalone one)

Bombers have just released their new site, still stand alone and still best in the AFL

I tried to log into the live game via the AFL site with both Opera and Firefox. It wouldn't load with either, then it suddenly took me to a page suggesting I swap over to BigPond ADSL - I wonder if they've rigged it so it only works properly if you have their cookies detectable??
I could believe they'd do it if they could make it work.

Without any decent competition, but why can only one club see this?

Its a fair bit quicker on IE than Firefox - don't know why but I noticed the same a few weeks ago as well. If you want to watch a video on AFL.com using Firefox then forget about it it from what I saw.
We are running BigPond ADSL
I have both IE and Firefox installed. Firefox is quicker on most other web-sites just not the AFL one

I'm fairly convinced the web site is being deliberately developed to be IE specific. IE is more vulnerable to data gathering, and there are probably sale options for the data. It stopped working with Opera several months ago and now won't work with Firefox. I betcha soon you'll have to be using BigPond as ISP to access any AFL site!
The next step will be all footy on Foxtel only at $200 bucks a month. Then they won't need the stadia - just a few corporate boxes and room for the TV gear.

the AFL website is a bloody shamble.
i have tried to watch videos on there before but i can't because i don't have internet explorer, im using Safari on my mac.
They over-complicate it as well, how bloody hard is it to watch a video or find some old results of previous matches.
as mentioned before, Essendon have the best website by far!

Do you know about this site? Nothing complicated about this one.
http://stats.rleague.com/afl/afl_index.htmlAnother thing I noticed with the AFL website is that the only results they have of State matches are those that involve Victoria.

for the love of Barrie... all I want is the final scores!
Not the history of indigenous footballers in the VFL/AFL, nor the specifications for every Toyota/Mazda/Ford Aurion ever built.
Just the results in plain text...

How bloody hard is it to make the live scores and stats easily accessible? They fill the site with so much crap it's a loading disaster and you need a bloody map to find anything.
