Road Warrior,

I'll be definately going to this game. I'll be with my other half, my mum and my two kids. I'll be the only bloke in the stadium wearing a Cats hat. If I can fit my fat guts into my old Redlegs jumper I will wear that as well (but all recent indicators point to this being an unlikely occurence!). My mum barracks for the Crows and my son barracks for the Demons and I'll be cheering on the D's as I can't stand the Blackbirds (unless they play the Poower).

Say hello if you spot me and don't forget to bring me a beer ha ha.

regards,

REB

Yes, fell over the line today. Looked like romping it in at one stage -Melbourne never gave in to their credit.

The Crows were pretty good in stages, but mostly fairly ordinary and sometimes simply awful.
They did their best to lose it in the last qtr with some bad, indirect footy.
They've got a long way to go before being serious contenders.

Carrara is a reasonable '2nd tier' kind of ground. Good mix of reserved seating and standing room and most areas are easily accessible.
Plenty of supporters from both sides showing their colours.

Car park sucks though: $10 and then was painfully slow getting out :(

any win away from home is a good win.....

yes crows not playing their best footy at the moment but then again you don't want them to be playing their best footy in April..

Bock at CHB, McGregor and eventually Welsh up forward will improve their structure, and i think they will play the Roo up forward until late in the year then unleash him in the midfield, which will be a huge bonus as he will be fresh and hungry

Plenty of room for improvement, which you want this time of year

Played p!ss poor footy at times, over use of handball, not giving the first give, u-turns, not pushing back to the contest etc etc

So to win ugly is a good sign especially against a team that from the 15 min mark of the 1st quarter was having a real RHG.

A win, is a win, is a win. Can only get better from here, but next week is a danger game (again) against Freo.

definitely over used the handball and not hitting targets with the hands...

I wasn't too concerned about the first give, couple times Perrie gave off and the runners let him down with not receiving with clean hands, secondly, our runners are coming through in the one straight line, they need to be staggered, if the player fumbles as per today in wet conditions, he needs a second, third and forth option......

In addition, the crows are gang tackling too much, two, three ,four players sheep dogging to the oposition player with the footy, if the ball spills lose, the opposition has two or three loose players waiting like sea gulls to win the loose ball, this has killed the crows in the past two weeks....... one or two players should hunt the ball carrier only

McGregor badly out of touch, need to push him forward, both Perrie and Hentshel play better with McGregor in the forward 50, I know the day was not made for forwards and it was only Hentshels first game back but it is time he dropped the Mr Potential tag, he has been on the list for four years now and we need him to start delivering week in week out........

The back six, seem to be a little out of touch, McGregor's been out of touch and as I said needs to push forward, Bassett still finding his touch after missing a lot of pre-season, although Rutten has not been beaten he has been suprisingly out-marked in some one on one contests in the past couple of weeks and they definitely missed Mattner's run today but thought Massie slotted in well

I would also love to see Joncock play forward of Centre, he is a class act and has match winner written all over him

For me, It's time to bring young Maric in for Clarke, I know Clarke is a good tap ruckman but both Clake and Biglands had about 12 posessions between them, we badly need a ruckman who can push forward and register more stats other then hit outs......

Plenty of improvement in the group, Welsh, Mattner, Torney and Bock to come back in, while Perrie, Hentshel, McGregor, all can lift a cog............

I think some of you are a bit critical. What I saw was an entertaining game which was played at a furious pace for much of the game. Handballs were generaly hitting the mark under immense pressure. I thought that it was the blind kick into 50 where Melbourne had got back in numbers was the thing that hurt the Crows. Too many easy clearances from the Melb defence due to their fooding tactic. With so many young players the Crows are only going to improve.

While Adelaide didn't flood at all and didn't chip the ball around did they..heaven forbid I even suggest such a thing. Adelaide were below their best and it was Melbourne's best effort of the season to date. I thought the Crows won three of the four quarters but the Demons refused to give in. An entertaining game with the sheer ar5e of Burton turning out to be the match winning factor in the end.

Some observations..

1. Carrara is not up to scratch for an AFL venue.
2. Qlder's have got no idea. You had to walk almost all of the way around the stadium to get a Pie! Do your research you blokes!!
3. Beer sold in Cans. Nice work that.
4. Weather was quite cool, made me think of home!
5. Some nice talent at the game
6. A good effort by Byron Pickett today I thought, might be starting to get used to the new team.
7. Davey is a freak.
8. McLeod just has to run on to the field to get in the best players list for Adelaide.
9. Burton is a freak (when he's 'on')
10. Adelaide have far more 'reliable' players than the Demons, kudos in particular to Goodwin, Edwards and Hart.
11. As interceptor pointed out, getting out of the ground was a big 5hitburger to eat.
12. Lots of teams represented by the supporters.
13. Had to laugh at the 'Keep North at Arden Street' sign. Hope he has more luck than the bloke that made the 'Keep South at South' sign all of those years ago.
14. Cararra has without exception THE worst PA system I have ever heard, bloody awful.
15. Didn't meet up with interceptor..someone must have er..intercepted him LOL.
16. A much better day than sitting at home throwing things at my TV during Geelongs 5hithouse pefromance on the Saturday.

REB

If the 'Legs jumper doesn't fit mate, walking to get a pie wont hurt any.

REB,

I never claimed that the Crows didn't flood. All clubs "get players back behind the ball" at times. I for one think that it is s legitmate tactic. My comment wasn't a critism of Melbourne who play positive attacking footy when the opportunity presents. I think that the game will become faster and consequently skills improve as a consequence of the flooding tactic. Not a bad thing. Part of the evolution of the game.

Agree regarding McLeod, he is a champion and a match winner but at times he seems to be stuck in second gear, I thought against Melbourne this was definitely the case and was amazed to see him named BOG in one of the papers.......

Byron Pickett, hmmmm I totally disagree

Personally, I thin the way he has presented himself for this season is an absolute disgrace, he looks over weight, out of condition and totally unfit to play AFL football, I think the footy club and supporters in General would be extremely disappointed...

Even though he has average 15 touches a game, they have been ineffective and has failed the scorers basically playing full time across HF

1. Carrara is not up to scratch for an AFL venue.
Good enough for the AFL it seems after spending $1M on it.

2. Qlder's have got no idea. You had to walk almost all of the way around the stadium to get a Pie! Do your research you blokes!!
Yeah that was pretty crap, big minus for that.

3. Beer sold in Cans. Nice work that.
Indeed.

4. Weather was quite cool, made me think of home!
Looked a bit nasty for a while, nothing more than drizzle though.

5. Some nice talent at the game
Always a plus.

6. A good effort by Byron Pickett today I thought, might be starting to get used to the new team.
Seems to be coasting a bit to me, needs to do more if Melbourne are to start winning.

7. Davey is a freak.
Need a race between him and Pearce from PA.

8. McLeod just has to run on to the field to get in the best players list for Adelaide.
Coasts too much.

9. Burton is a freak (when he's 'on')
And very frustrating when he's not!

10. Adelaide have far more 'reliable' players than the Demons, kudos in particular to Goodwin, Edwards and Hart.
Looked like a big difference in class early on, but Melbourne persevered.

12. Lots of teams represented by the supporters.
Saw a guy there in a Geelong cap and guernsey ("Great to have AFL back" sign end).

13. Had to laugh at the 'Keep North at Arden Street' sign. Hope he has more luck than the bloke that made the 'Keep South at South' sign all of those years ago.
Well spotted, something will give with North...eventually.

14. Cararra has without exception THE worst PA system I have ever heard, bloody awful.
Didn't take too much notice, but there were probably a few dead spots around the ground

15. Didn't meet up with interceptor..someone must have er..intercepted him LOL.
Haha, well I was there and looking around for ya. Could've done something sensible and swapped numbers or something :)
Anyway, I was next to the Crows box on the wing on the 1st qtr, then moved around the ground to the ends the Crows were kicking to for the remainder of the match.
Highlights: having a great view of Burton's "Daicos" goal and van Berlo's courageous mark in the last qtr.
Lowlights: Ian "Mr Clanger" Perrie's misses from close in, Doughty's brain fade where got caught holding the ball.

16. A much better day than sitting at home throwing things at my TV during Geelongs 5hithouse pefromance on the Saturday.
Ditto, scraped home with the points :)
