Crows v Power

Not much hype about this game so far - which is not normal at all.

I think the Crows should win this but it will depend on which Port Adelaide turnds up.
It is what it is !!!

The crows should win this game by plenty. They are playing the better football. And with the weather looking wet the lack of talls in the crows forward line wont really matter. Still they didnt have then against the dogs and killed them. So i would say the crows comfortably. the Power are defintly rebuilding at the moment and without Brogan in the ruck, its a big ask for Lade to do the job against Clarke and Biglands all day.

If the crows play 85% to their potential then that should be enough to get them over the line.

For me, Crows selection for this week will be interesting and they need to take a horses for courses approach.

Last week the Bullies were a smaler team then the power, this week on occassions Adelaide may have to handle three talls up forward, definitely Treadrea and White and maybe Choco might try and stretch Adelaide by pushing lade or chad cornes forward as well.

To counter against this Adelaide will definitely have to push rutten back and or Mcgregor, this would then leave the Adel forward line thin on Tall options.

I would not be suprised if Adelaide change their mix and select Maric to support Clarke and push Biglands Forward as a tall option.

Biglands showed his mobility last week and Maric deserves an opportunity

I hold some fear and reservations about this up coming contest. Two teams at different ends of the spectrum.
Three years ago Port were at the top,the team to beat, and at the same stage the Crows were blooding youth in anticipation of better times in the future. Now its 2006 and the Crows are the team to beat, ready for a tilt at the flag.Port are now rebuilding and are looking for the future.

During this period (2002-2004),Port held a decided advantage in the Showdown arena,it is now the Crows turn, having won the last three and appearing to have a big advantage over Port this week.As it is a Crows home game I wont be attending, but rest assured I will not miss a minute of it on the big screen.GO THE POWER!

The difference will be the midfield,as in most games.Goodwin,Edwards,McLeod and Johncock will have the say in how much Adelaide win by.Tredrea,C.Cornes,K,Cornes(on one of the above) and perhaps Damon White can have the biggest impact in the other direction.

Will Rutten play FF or FB? Surely he goes back to Tredrea this week.
If you want to go quickly, go alone.

If you want to go far, go together.

Booney, I think you will find that Rutten will play FB on Tredrea

If I was a Power supporter I would be concerned about their lack of run, they don't seem to have the depth in the midfield and enough players running the lines........

The crows are fit and run hard and I think you will find that they will smash teams that don't have the same running capability, this is why the Eagles are the only team to cause the crows real concern

(Sadly) I totally agree Syd,as I said, the likes of Goodwin,Edwards,McLeod and co. should easily account for P.Burgoyne,K.Cornes,Cassisi and others. The majority of Port's current midfield stocks have developed as defensive run with players,K.Cornes,Cassisi in particular, and have a defensive mind set as their first thought. In contrast all the above mentioned Adelaide players have never really had to work in a negative role and run forward with freedom. Not to say the Port midfield cant do this but I think our first thought is too often defensive. The likes of N.Stevens,Schofield and Pickett took that with them. *sigh*

Agree, Dogs4eva

the crows still have to go out their and win the game and any rivary game tends to throw all theories and predictions out the window, but you sense that the crows might have port in the chocker hold at the moment

Rutten will play on Tredrea - that im sure about
Bassett to White - Hart to Motlop - Johncock to who ever play as small forward.

Im hopin the crows give Maric a go - maybe choco and craigy can give the 2 young guys ( Maric & Deluca ) a go at each other for the night. Nothin like a little bit of cohersion from the to SA teams

Port are talkin the crows up - let the mind games begin

I would love to see Joncock move forward, he has the potential to be very damaging across HF.

I think McCleod will pick up young Pearce, in the past he has picked up Wells and Davey and both players have seemed to be a bit in awe of Macca

Pearce usually starts on the bench - I think.

I probably wouldnt move stiffy as he is in great form down back - will pick up 3 brownlow votes for the game againsnt freo. Maybe a pinch hit role now and then up forward only.

It would be nice to see a lift from Hentschell though - maybe is playin with injury. He was our best player during the pre-season.

I am a bi gan of Hentschell, but he has been carrying this Mr Potential tag around too long, it is time for Trent to step up consistently, instead of just teasing us with cameo performances.

Port's selection will be interesting to see if they include Wanga's, Francou and Kingsley

As am I (A big fan, not a bi fan lol), but I don't think he's a key position player yet .. In an ideal world the club would have Roo, Welsh and Perrie in the forward line with him and then I think we'd better be able to guage where he's at ..

Fear this game could be a blowout.

Apparently, K. Cornes and Dew are unlikley starters.

White sustained an injury at training last night and might miss also.

Can see us putting up a brave show for a half or so before the Crows take control of the game, like last year's final.

Just want to see us play to WIN - and that means Junior Burger in the middle and Pearcey on the wing for starters.

Constance_Perm, just for clarity, insert correction "big fan"

Totally agree, Hentshel is best suited as the third tall, but in saying that if he was to be the go to man maybe this would force him to be injected in to the game, I just feel that sometimes he struggles to inject himself in to the game as the third option.

Port would be concerned if Dew, K Cornes and White were to miss, K Cornes is a key match up for Goodwin who is in career best form, White is a key to their forward structure especially with Lade required to spend more time on the ball, if White does miss this would give the crows the luxury of pushing Kenny forward.

Big losses to port if correct

With the weather forecast looking wet, Adelaide look even more dangerous with their ability to run the ball through the middle. The "tall forward" factor is also reduced in a game when the ball will mainly be on the deck. Expect a big one from Bodie and the other in & under style players.
